Kelly

I had my first stroke 10 years ago at the age of 25. It presented as a brain tumor instead of demyelinated brain tissue, so I underwent an operation to remove the mass. Unfortunately though, healthy brain tissue was inadvertently taken. This left me without feeling in my left leg and a tremor and weakness throughout my entire left side.

I hit an all-time low physically and emotionally after I became sick; losing my ability to see myself as anything short of a broken down and worthless obese woman. After I learned to walk again, I had periods of time that I would diet and exercise any way I could, but failed to ever keep up with it long enough to actually see results. I gave up.

In May of this year I decided I didn't want to have yet another winter of slip-sliding my way into embarrassing falls and stumbles on the ice and snow, so I joined a gym. That's when Lisa Hale introduced me to Yoga, and it has changed my life.

Although I wasn't seeing results at the time, I was definitely feeling them. After a couple of months of doing Yoga twice a week I found that my balance, flexibility and stability were greatly improved. That made me want to see what else I was capable of accomplishing. When Lisa informed me she was leaving the gym I was at, it was obvious to me that I had to follow, so I joined Razor Sharp and used my new found strength to try new things.

Through transitional eating and exercise, I have now lost 34 pounds and have packed on some muscle. No one was more surprised by this development than me! For years now I have thought that my weight loss/fitness goals were unattainable, and that it was just too hard. I am thrilled to discover that they're not out of reach for me and that I can do anything I put my mind to.

I can finally see some of the results of living this lifestyle and I'm excited to reach all of my goals! Because of the support and encouragement by everyone I meet here at Razor Sharp, I have come to view fitness as a smooth and exhilarating lifelong journey instead of yet another diet day trip full of roadblocks and potholes!

Once again, Razor Sharp Fitness is helping you create a "New You" in the New Year by motivating you to take your health and wellness to the next level in 2010! For 12 weeks, starting January 25th through April 18th, we will be conducting our Second Annual "NEW YEAR, NEW YOU" Fitness Challenge! The goal of this self-improvement challenge is to improve your overall well-being, inside and out, not just by losing weight.

Each day, registered members can earn points by completing various activities to improve their health and wellness. Registered members will report their points to the front desk upon exiting the club each visit. Points will be tallied and tracked daily. Prizes will be awarded based on total number of points earned accumulatively for the 12 weeks.

  • January Blood Drive to be Held at Razor Sharp Fitness
  • January is "National Blood Donor Month." The following is a message from Rolly Peckus from The Bloodcenter of Wisconsin:

I am very proud that Razor Sharp Fitness has scheduled a blood drive with BloodCenter of Wisconsin for Monday, January 11th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Gymnasium. As you receive information on this drive, I urge you to schedule an appointment to donate. It is important that we maintain an ample blood supply in our community, and that can only be done with BloodCenter of Wisconsin, as they supply 100% of the blood to every community hospital in our area. The blood you donate will save lives right here in your community.

Patients are counting on receiving this blood to help them survive or heal. Let's all participate and make this blood drive a success for all of us. If you haven't signed up yet, please consider doing so. You'll be doing more good than you know. This is a great way to help someone in your community enjoy another day, another smile, another birthday. Get involved by giving blood to help those in need. Nothing replaces whole blood and you could be the connection to help save a life today. One pint of blood will help to save three lives.
