Razor Performance Sports Scores a New World Record
As many of you may know, Razor Performance Sports
(RPS) is a part of Razor Sharp Fitness, providing
coaching and training services for beginner and
advanced runners, swimmers, cyclists and triathletes.
You may have seen (or heard!) RPS members
preparing for this year's races. Most commonly, you'll
see them with their coach prescribed workouts at the
side of the pool, paying strict attention to the day's
tasks.
In addition to the members, RPS includes Coaches
and Resident Athletes that are certified in their
respective sports and have competed at the local,
state and national levels in one, if not several sports.
Recently, RPS Resident Athlete Rita Kacala had a
pretty special day at Master's Track Cycling Nationals
in Colorado Springs.
Rita's eight months of preparation and dedication to
training paid off as she won the national
championship in the women's 500 Meter Cycling
Time Trial, as well as second place in the 2 Kilometer
Pursuit in the 50-54 year old age group. Her record
setting time of 39.3 seconds in the 500 was one tenth
of a second ahead of the second place finisher from
California. Rita's time also bested the previous world
record of 39.7 set in Sydney, Australia in 2007. That's
right-a world record from an athlete right here at
Razor Sharp Fitness. The former world record holder
finished third in the Colorado Springs race.
Rita's training team was coordinated by her husband
and coach Gordy and included several professionals
that you can take advantage of right here at Razor
Sharp Fitness. Suzanne Williamson helped Rita with
her
early season nutrition and conducted body fat testing.
Dan Neumann provided swim lessons for early
season endurance work in the pool. And, Tom Van De
Water, Advanced Spine & Sport Rehabilitation,
developed and monitored Rita's strength training
program. Len Cabaltera, RPS Cycling Coach
provided tips on cycling technique.
When asked about her performance, Rita credited the
RPS members. "I really would like to thank RPS
members for their encouragement throughout this
season. All of you have been a great example of
dedication to your goals in the pool, weight room, spin
class and cycling. Watching you race over the last
three years has been very motivational."
For more information on RPS contact Gordy Kacala at
GKacala@aol.com. And, watch for Rita's spin class,
Thursday nights at 6:00 p.m. starting in October right
here at Razor Sharp Fitness.

| Have a Workout Injury? Acupuncture Can Help! |
| |
- Have you lifted too much weight and injured your
shoulder?
- Have you felt that twinge in the middle of your
workout from inflexibility due to a lack of stretching?
- Do you have difficulty finishing your run because
you injured a groin muscle?
- Is your gait off when running or biking due to a
pulled muscle?
- Are your knees painful after running, biking,
swimming or lifting weights?
- Did that last great basket you made cause an
injury to your knees or ankle when you landed?
If you've experienced any of these problems, then
acupuncture can help you recover faster than if you
just use pain relievers or muscle relaxers.
Acupuncture helps your body heal by releasing the
stagnation associated with the injury, and; if we use a
TENS unit with the treatment we can un-block the
area and assist your body to release the pain.
Guasha, another treatment option will help to release
the toxins that are trapped in the muscle layer and, in
most cases, will give you immediate relief of pain.
These two options, acupuncture and guasha, have
already been used to treat many of Razor Sharp's
members who are experiencing hamstring, groin,
shoulder, upper back, lower back, and even arm pain
and they can help you too. We want you to become as
strong as possible and to do that you have to be pain
free when working out.
Don't live with pain, call 321-0200 and make your
appointment today to get the relief you need.
