Carrie Sperka: Pumping Insulin and Iron!
Carrie

I am 37 year old woman. I am a mother of a 4 year old son and a 2 ½ year old daughter. I am a type I diabetic on an insulin pump (diagnosed at age 13), and I am in the best shape and health of my life!!

I have always been thin, with an athletic build, so interpret that as you may. My mother however, was morbidly obese and died at age 52 (I was 20). She was my best friend. Because of what I went through, I never wanted my own children to feel that loss at an early age and so I worked out religiously in my mid 20's to keep my weight and my health in check. However, after meeting my husband, having 2 children, and not having my life be just about me, at age 34 my weight was 235lbs.

In January of 2007, when my daughter was 7 months old, I decided it was time to change my body and my health. I joined a group weight loss program and over the course of 10 months I reached my goal weight of 163 lbs!

Last October I joined Razor Sharp. At that point, aside from competitive volleyball once a week, I hadn't worked out in 9 years! Amusingly, the first class I attended was Ernie's Body Bootcamp. I almost threw up. I wasn't too discouraged though. I slowed it down a bit with a combination of Muscle Works, Cardio Kick, and the elliptical for a total of 4 hours a week. Two months later (and quite a bit stronger), I returned to Bootcamp and became a "regular".

I currently work out Tuesday night, Thursday night, and Saturday morning 2 hours each. Between Tenille's Cardio Kick, and Ernie's Ringside and Bootcamp, I have gained tone and strength. In March I even began the Master's Boxing class, which has truly challenged my upper body. I love it all!

More importantly, with a consistent exercise routine I require less insulin. And because insulin leads to hunger and cravings, my diet is better and more easily controlled.

I am so thankful for the trainers and the members at this facility. My friends and family are amazed at how my body has changed and I love how I feel. I have honestly never worked out in such a friendly and encouraging environment. God willing, I am looking forward to a permanently active and healthy lifestyle!

  • Declined Credit Cards Now Subject to Fee
  • credit card

It has always been our policy to charge a $20 fee if we were unable to process membership dues on EFT accounts (checking or savings accounts) due to insufficient funds available for withdrawal. This is the service fee that the bank charges us in these situations.

Please note that as of April 15th, which is the next billing date, we will now be charging a $20 service fee on credit and debit card accounts that do not go through as well. Cards can be denied for a number of reasons such as insufficient funds (debit), going over the card's credit limit, or cancellation of the card. Due to a rise in the number of declined cards, as well as increasing costs and the amount of time consumed collecting back dues, we will now charge a $20 fee if the credit or debit card is unable to be processed.

If you receive a new card, or if your expiration date changes, we ask that you complete a new billing form at our front desk, and provide us with the new information as soon as possible. If your billing date is approaching and you do not have your new card yet, please call Tenille at 321-0200 and make her aware of your situation. Thank you.

Headaches are one of the most commonly treated clinical complaints, and Chinese Medicine has a very good track record in both treating and preventing them. Unlike Western Medicine that treats most headaches the same way, Chinese Medicine classifies them based on their root causes in the body. There are 10 main types of headaches in Chinese Medicine, (but more than one of the 10 types may present together.)
