| The next event for the Fleet Feet Race Team is the
Ultrafit-USA BeerAthlon 5K this Saturday, July 17th! What better way
to celebrate finishing your next 5K than with good friends and good beer!
The Race starts at 7pm Saturday at Buffalo Wild Wings at 5240 Bethel Rd, Columbus,
OH. All participants will
receive a goody bag consisting of a great looking Beerathlon 5K technical
shirt, EAS nutritional product, race number, post race food and beverage.
(Note: Buffalo
Wild Wings food is not complimentary.....sorry)
The top 125 men and 125 women
will receive an attractive and "one of a kind" Beerathlon 5K mug with
race logo. NO AGE GROUP TIMING. However, we will record times for all runners
and walkers and post them on our site.
Race registration and packet pickup begins Wednesday, July
14th at Fleet Feet and will end the afternoon of the 16th. Race entry is $32 between now and Race Day.
Race Day registration is $35.

A Full is Fun for some, Half of a Full is Cool for many, Half
of a Half is just right for all! The Emerald City Half & Quarter Marathon is your chance to run or walk a
quarter or a half marathon in a fully supported environment and party with M3S
on Labor Day weekend.
The fun begins Saturday, September 5th at 7am.
Both courses start and finish at the Dublin
Methodist Hospital and wind through Glacier
Ridge Metro Park. There will be aid stations at every mile mark, on-course
entertainment, a post-race party, and a "GEM" of a finisher's medal. Medical
support will be provided by OhioHealth and our Medical Director, Dr. Darrin
Bright. |

Compression - Why it
is a hot topic? What products address it?
|
If you've been in any specialty running/walking store in the
past year you've no doubt noticed the invasion of compression socks, leg sleeves,
tights, c. But are the products you're seeing truly compression grade? We'll
help you answer that. To understand if a product is truly compression grade you
must first understand a few principles: 1. Arteries with normal blood
flow - Arteries are blood vessels that transport oxygen-rich blood from the
heart to the organs and muscles. Veins transport de-oxygenated blood back to
the heart. 2. Arteries extension - Scientifically proven products expand the
diameter of the artery resulting in increased blood circulation. 3. An increased arterial blood circulation and supply of oxygen to the
musculature - The arterial blood circulation increases by approximately 30%
while at rest and by approximately 40% under physical strain resulting in more oxygen
for the musculature. True compression grade products can reduce the amount of
time it takes you to cover a set distance by approximately 5% (e.g., this would
equal twelve minutes at a marathon time of four hours.) Exertion is reduced by
about 6% for the same running time since the muscles have to work less. Additionally,
the phase of regeneration is shorter. So as we mentioned there are many products claiming to offer
