As Spring temperatures warm, it's a sign Dive Season is here and it is time to bring the gear in for annual service. Many of you have already done that, but if your gear is still behind the snow shovels in the garage, dust it off and get ready to dive. There is still time to drop it off at Lang's in May for a quick turn around.
Check out Lang's Boat Dive schedule for 2012. There are some great wrecks to hit. Bookings for dives are ahead of last season. Spots remain for some of the more interesting wreck sites are already filling slots. Take a look at your calendar and plan your diving with Lang's. Truk Lagoon is waiting for YOU. Lang's is now booking the April 2014 trip aboard the Odyssey. An "Information Session" about Truk, will be held, This Friday, May 4th @ 7p at Lang's. Kathi & Joe Feyti will be there to answer questions about Truk and Gary Szabo will have a short film from his trip aboard the Odyssey. Even if this is just a dream, stop by & talk to the divers that have already been on this trip. They will all tell you, "It is the Trip of a Lifetime".
Jersey Wreck Diving will be starting early this year. The water temp is at or above 50 on many of the sites with great visability. The mild winter should make this a spectacular dive season. Lang's one tank Wednesday night dives were a big hit last season, with divers filling the boat on Wednesday. This is perfect to get your PADI "Night Diver Specialty" course completed. A jump in the ocean on Wednesday is just what you need to break up the work week. Keep in touch with Lang's. The first Wednesday night dive may be as early as May 9th.
When planning your diving schedule, reserve June 2th & 3th for Lang's first weekend atDutch Springs. This is a good time to check out your gear or finish that course you have been interested in completing. Save a day or both and come dive with Lang's Ski 'N Scuba.

PACKING TIPS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

It used to be so easy to get to distant dive locations with virtually any amount of camera gear needed to do the job. Load up a dive bag, a clothing bag, maybe a big roller case for topside cameras to go on the airplane with you--then stuff the rest in a giant hard case. Some shooters had different strategies, maybe an Igloo cooler with the lid duct-taped down to make it look like a cargo of dead fish rather than live cameras, hoping to avoid theft. But the common feeling was that overweight was an after-thought, and if we got charged at all, it would be maybe $50. But as Mr. Dylan once sang, "the times they are a-changin'," and as fuel costs force airlines' bottom lines deeper into the red, they pass some of those costs along to their passengers in the form of baggage fees. Underwater photographers get hit especially hard, so for shooters feeling the pinch, here are five tips for packing, planning and navigating baggage restrictions on your next dive trip.
