As the Dive Season moves into the second half of Summer, conditions for Jersey Diving are improving tremendously. Lang's dive aboard the Blue Fathoms on Friday had the Water temperatures in the comfort range. Even for the 2 wetsuit divers on the boat. Visibility was in the 30ft + area. Hunting is getting better as well. We boated several Sea Bass (so far Sea Bass has been the catch of the season), half a dozen Fluke and 9 lobster. Fluke & lobster are a bit less obvious to find, but the seasoned divers seem to get one or two on every dive. Lang's Wednesday night Dives aboard the Blue Fathoms have been a big hit. The last few weeks the ocean was flat and the dives were great! Wednesday night trips run into October. So - stop by Lang's and book your spot for a Jersey boat dive with Capt Guy & Scott on Wednesday or Capt Tony on the weekend. The Aqualung "Gear Up & Go" special will end August 31st. If you have a new Dive Gear package you want or just a Regulator, NOW is the TIME to GET IT!!!!! SAVE BIG $$$$$ on the best gear out there. Join Us For Some Dives,

Dive Tip of the Month-Use Less Air
Streamline Your GearAll fast swimming fish have smooth bodies with few or no protuberances. That minimizes drag so they can swim with the least energy and oxygen consumption. Divers, by contrast, have rough, convoluted surfaces with all sorts of attachments, from tanks to whistles. Anything disturbing the flow of water past your body creates drag and wastes air.
Do your best to imitate the fish. If you don't need a light on this dive, don't take it. If you do need something, try to hide it in a pocket instead of dangling it from a D-ring. Replace the snorkel on your mask with a fold-up snorkel that fits in your pocket. Shorten hoses that are too long. Clip your console closer to your body. You may even want to have different gear for the conditions you are diving; such as a less bulky BC for diving in the tropics. |
Time for some new gear?
Why not trade-in your old gear?
We are always looking for used gear. Bring in that old BCD for the latest in Weight Integrated System. Regulators, Tanks - their all worth $$$ towards new equipment. We also buy Used Gear - Not diving any more?
See Bob for details. |
