SUE JOHNSON May 2012
Celebrating our 40th Year of Artisan Lighting with a Special Collection of Arts & Crafts Pottery Lamps
| | Midnight Moon Ceiling Light by Sue Johnson |
Throughout our 40th Anniversary year we are showcasing several series of one-of-a-kind plus contemporary, handcrafted lamp collections, each celebrating and highlighting types of lamps and techniques that everyone has loved over the years. We are also including ceiling lights and sconces using the designs, themes and colors that are in the lamps. Our first grouping centered on the designs of the Heintz Art Metal Shop, makers of highly collectible silver-on-bronze wares in the early 20th century. This second group highlights Arts & Crafts Pottery Lamps. The ceiling lights we've chosen feature a new size with a new hand-cut oak leaf design and my new, teal-bordered technique with natural orange and red maple leaves. We hope you love our newest creations. | | Hand-Cut Oak Leaf and Acorn design in our newest size rectangle ceiling light. |
Among the antique pieces in this group we are thrilled to have an amazing antique hand-formed "Frog on Bamboo" lamp, which inspired Lynn Duncan to create a "Frog's World" shade - a one-of-a-kind combination. We also will be presenting a notable green Czech Amphora lamp with a parchment paper shade by Jill Lawrence. An antique metal-glazed pottery lamp is shown alongside a new series of hand-thrown metal-glazed pieces from David Ross Ceramics, in Sonoma, CA, inspired by hand-hammered copper and brass vessels. We are thrilled to introduce him. This second Anniversary collection is rounded out with new acquisitions from the contemporary American Arts & Crafts pottery studios Ephraim Faience and the Roycroft Pottery studio, works with hand-formed cranes, swaying grain, Oak Leaves and Acorns, and dragonflies all inspiring us to new lampshade creations. Come see us, or call us - this Arts & Crafts Pottery Lamp Collection will be available for purchase beginning May 29. All of us at Sue Johnson custom lamps & shades invite you to visit us at our Berkeley store, 1745 Solano Avenue - the lights are on. Don't miss a collection!
