Greetings!
Last week's Wired Wednesday produced a full house at the CAER. We'll be holding one more networking event this year at the CAER in case you haven't had a chance to tour the building, so come join us at Tech@Breakfast on December 6. You'll see in the news story below that we have hired Elizabeth Narehood as Managing Director for our Future Focus Foundation. This is an exciting milestone for the Technology Council. For the past eight years we've worked beside local partners to grow a comprehensive K-12 STEM Education and Career Preparedness program in Region 2000 and we look forward to its continued growth under Elizabeth's leadership. Lastly and in case you haven't seen it yet, you can download our 2010-2011 annual report here. Jonathan Whitt, Executive Director

Technology Council Executive Director Jonathan Whitt has been traveling the speakers' circuit over the last few weeks, reinforcing the importance of STEM education, workforce development, and entrepreneurship while outlining Region 2000 models. Opening Centra's Technology and eLearning Conference on October 25, Whitt took a tongue in cheek look at the changes in medical technology over the years and explored where we're headed in the future with further technology developing at a rapid pace. Later that week, Whitt joined a panel discussion at the 2011 Virginia Business Incubation Association Conference on Economic Gardening in Roanoke and shared the story of how the Technology Council has built a strong technology-focused network that supports entrepreneurship.
