Greetings!
There's more to talk about this month than will fit in the newsletter so I encourage you to bookmark our blog for the latest news stories or subscribe to our RSS feed. We are constantly publishing items that we believe are of interest to our growing technology community. If you're not already doing so, you can follow us on Twitter, Linkedin, and Facebook. If you have a news story to share you can now submit that directly online. The more we tell your stories of success, the more it tells of our region's success. And believe me, people are listening. Region 2000 continues to make headlines in national business rankings and we have momentum. Our technology community is growing and that's a trend that must continue. I encourage you to tell others about the Technology Council and invite them to attend an upcoming meeting or check out our website for the latest happenings. I hope to see you at the CAER on November 2 for our next Wired Wednesday. Jonathan Whitt, Executive Director

Our annual Future Focus EXPO draws hundreds of students and their parents each year to explore science and technology related career opportunities by connecting with local businesses and organizations in a trade-show format. We believe as students envision future career possibilities in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) they can begin to plan their steps and forge a path forward. This critical work helping students in our local community envision a future in STEM careers deserves our utmost time and resources. Because of our dedication to this task we are rescheduling the 6th Annual Future Focus EXPO until Spring 2012 as we seek to bring on-board a full-time Managing Director for our Future Focus Foundation that exists to cultivate and expand all of our STEM youth programs - including the annual expo. Oliver Kuttner and the Edison2 team (right here in Lynchburg, Virginia) are again riding the edge of the automotive future with their newly revealed electric version of the X-Prize winning Very Light Car. "Called the eVLC, Edison2 says its electric concept packs a 10-kWh battery pack, is "supremely aerodynamic" and carries not one, not two, but four passengers in relative comfort. Edison2 says that its eVLC concept is far more efficient than a Nissan Leaf and, even though it has not yet undergone official EPA testing, the firm figures the eVLC has the makings to become the highest MPGe-rated vehicle ever..."
