Greetings! After many years of planning, the Center for Advanced Engineering and Research has officially opened its doors. The CAER marks what I believe is a turning point for our region's growing technology community. It's proof positive that we are serious about advancing technology-based economic development and supporting our technology companies here in Region 2000. For the remainder of the year we will be hosting all our networking events at CAER as a celebration to this remarkable facility.
I want to personally invite you out to our next event, which is Tech@Breakfast on September 13. We have several new member companies and this is a great way to meet them and to learn more about the companies that comprise the Technology Council. We'll also have a tour of the CAER facility afterwards. I hope to see you there.

| Member Spotlight: Rhodes IP |
This month we welcome new member and corporate sponsor Rhodes IP to the Tech Council community. From our interview with founder Chris Rhodes: "...companies are taking a closer look at which technologies are most likely to provide them with a competitive edge in the next few decades. Businesses are being forced to do more with less, and they are looking to service providers that can provide value commensurate with acceptable costs. In addition, the downturn in the economy has forced an increase in entrepreneurship as many people have been downsized out of their former positions. Over the last six months, we have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of individuals starting their own technology based companies in the Region 2000 area and seeking to protect their IP as one of the company assets..."
