Greetings!

It's been a quiet summer for events but we're planning for a busy fall. We want to invite you out to the grand opening of the Center for Advanced Engineering & Research (CAER) near the end of August and our newly revived Tech@Breakfast September 13 which we will also host at CAER. Make sure to register early for these events.

We are grateful to the Verizon Foundation who recently gave us a grant for $9,000 to grow our STEM youth programs. We've been busy at work refining these varied programs with the help of Mary Ann Barker who is helping us prepare for a full-time person to manage our STEM programs and Future Focus Foundation.

Finally, this month's Member Spotlight features a unique organization, The Social Media Institute. The SMI is helping area small businesses evolve in these changing times as Web based marketing, integrated social media business practices, and new media technology is playing an increasing role in our organizations.

If you haven't participated in our Member Spotlight now is the time to contact us so that you can take advantage of this free promotional service for all Tech Council members.

Exciting days are ahead. We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events.

Jonathan Whitt, Executive Director
