Our most anticipated event of the year is next week and momentum is building for our 10th Annual Awards Night. We are excited to be featuring one of the most well-known and successful young entrepreneurs in the world, Cameron Johnson, as our keynote speaker. I sincerely want to encourage you to attend this dynamic event and consider bringing a guest. It will truly be a night to remember.
Spring-boarding off of the entrepreneurial spirit of Awards Night we will be co-hosting 'ACCELER8: Business Growth Forum' on June 1. Several of our partner organizations will be sharing about resources for startups and existing businesses and offering one-on-one consultations. | SUMMER ACADEMIES: REGISTRATION OPEN FOR MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS | |

Central Virginia Community College, in alliance with the Region 2000 Technology Council, and the Region 2000 Career Pathways through Tech Prep Consortium will once again sponsor high technology career academies for middle school & high school students during the summer of 2011. These academies are high-quality career exploration events designed to educate and inspire students to explore career pathways in Central Virginia. Camps are available to public and private middle and high school students, offering a planned curriculum, skill-building activities, industry tours, guest speakers and more. | REGION 2000 HOSTS BIKE TO WORK CHALLENGE MAY 16-20 | |

The Region 2000 Greenway Alliance, a newly formed, ad-hoc committee that champions the promotion and implementation of trails and on-road bicycle facilities in Lynchburg and the surrounding region, will host the first ever Region 2000 Bike Week as part of National Bike Week, May 16-20, 2011. During the week, the Greenway Alliance will host several events to encourage residents to get out and use their bicycles. One event is the Region 2000 Bike to Work Challenge, a week-long event to challenge individuals to bike or commute to work through a combination of biking, walking, or transit for one or more days during the week.
