 | Awards Night Keynote Speaker - May 11
| As the premier networking event
of the year, our Awards Night recognizes the best and brightest in
the region's technology sector. Each year, we honor our corporate
sponsors and the achievements in entrepreneurship, innovation, and
education. Our 9th annual Awards Night will be held on
May 11 at the Holiday Inn in Lynchburg. We are pleased to announce this year's keynote speaker, Mr. Tad Deriso, President and CEO of the Mid-Atlantic Broadband Cooperative.
The
night begins with a networking reception from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Dinner
will be served at 7:00 p.m. followed by the awards presentation and
keynote address. Tickets will not be mailed; names will be listed at the
door. The reservation deadline is May 7th. Tickets are $60 for
individuals and $50 each for parties of two or more. A limited

Jr. FIRST Lego May 1 - Volunteers Needed
|  We're committed to growing our youth education programs and are pleased to announce the kick off for the first ever Junior FIRST Lego League season in Region 2000. Fourteen teams of kids ages 6-9 will meet over the coming weeks to research the "Smart Moves" challenge and design, build, and program an original model complete with moving parts using the We-Do Lego Education kit and software. Teams will gather on May 1 at TC Miller Elementary School for a Junior FIRST tournament where they will share the results of their research, display their "robots," and receive recognition for their achievements. Regional Science Challenge - May 11
|  Judges are needed for the Regional Science Challenge for 5-8th graders sponsored by Central VA Governor's School, the Region 2000 Technology Council, and area companies. The event will take place at Heritage HS on May 11 prior to our Awards Night event. The commitment time is from 3:00 - 6:30 p.m. to work in judging teams for reviewing the 150 projects! The students will represent 35 elementary and middle schools in the region. The event coincides with the National Lab Day week. Come and share your interest in these young science students!  | Tech@Breakfast - June 1
| June 1, Wingate Inn Lynchburg
 This event is all about networking
- get to know other local technology companies of all sizes. This
quarterly breakfast meeting features two to three R2KTC member companies
that will give 10 minute presentations about their business and/or
upcoming technologies within their industry. Fast paced and fun with opportunities for
Q&A. Member companies are not announced ahead of time so you never
know who you might be hearing from - don't miss these...door prizes will
be given out. Tech@Breakfast will be held at the Wingate Inn from
7:30-8:45AM and the cost is $10 per person for R2TC members, $15 for
non-members.

 | Summer Middle School Academies
|  Enrollment is still open for the Summer Middle School Academies, August 2-6. These are high
technology career academies for middle school & high school
students. These
academies are high-quality career exploration events designed to educate
and inspire students to explore career pathways in Central Virginia.
Camps are available to
public and private middle and high school students, offering a planned
curriculum, skill-building activities, industry tours, guest speakers
and more. Camps are limited to 15 students each. There are only a few spots left, so register right away.
