Greetings!

I want to thank all the exhibitors and volunteers that made this year's Future Focus EXPO such a success. On Tuesday, more than 50 exhibitors and 1200 hundred students and parents were in attendance. This year's EXPO was our largest and most exciting career event to date.

The 2010 Edition of the GetSet Magazine showcasing local career opportunities was also handed out to students at the EXPO.The EXPO and GetSet Magazine are two great examples of how we are reaching our region's youth with the message that great careers await those that pursue studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. To find out more about how you can get involved, contact us here. EXPO photos will be posted soon on our Flickr site.

FIRST LEGO Volunteers Needed 11/14
Lego Boys
If you've never participated in a Lego tournament before, you might be surprised at the fun you'll have. Come watch students from Region 2000 perform the skills they've developed all season; many of them from your neighborhood schools.

The R2KTC and CVCC host the largest LEGO tournament in the state. Visit our website for more information about tournament day and come be a part of the 2009 Lynchburg Regional Tournament. We need volunteers on Friday evening, November 13th (set-up) and Saturday, November to serve as judges and more. This is a great opportunity for:
  • School leaders to support their students
  • High School juniors/seniors to earn community service
  • Engineering students to foster future interest in STEM
  • College students to enhance their portfolios
  • Local business and industry to get involved; see your future workforce in action!
For more information or to sign up, contact Barbara Bragg, Tournament Coordinator at (434) 832-7672 or email her at braggb@cvcc.vccs.edu.

Fall Wired Wednesday Videos Online
Fall WW SlideIf you missed our Fall Wired Wednesday luncheon, the videos from the event are now posted in our Video Library. The topic was Office 2010 and Windows 7 and our speaker did an excellent job showcasing the capabilities of Microsoft's next generation OS and Office software. This is a great presentation to share with any Microsoft Windows user because Windows 7 will be an operating system you will actually want to upgrade to.
