Greetings!

Next month we will be holding our 4th annual Future Focus Career EXPO for area middle and high-school students. If you have never attended this event, then you need to visit this year and see what all the buzz is about. This event gets larger and more exciting every year. We still have room for 15 more companies to exhibit but you need to hurry because exhibitor space will sell out. Also, we are looking for volunteers to work a couple hours at the event to help with registrations and to hand out t-shirts. Volunteers will receive a very stylish R2KTC t-shirt. If you are interested, please contact Janet Walton at jwalton@region2000.org or by calling 847-1447.

In the past couple of newsletters you have probably noticed my promotion of our social media sites and our new website (coming soon, I promise). It's time to build the R2KTC community and I need your help. The Tech Council is engaged in activities that range from getting kids interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math to promoting the region as a hub for Technology-Based Economic Development. There's more going on that I can possibly communicate in a monthly newsletter and your input is important. If you've never signed up for LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. then I encourage you to take the time to do so. Start talking to us, to each other. There is a lot happening in the technology community in Region 2000 and we want to help facilitate that conversation. This isn't about getting more members, it's about getting people connected. Get your feet wet right now and navigate over to our Twitter Stream or LinkedIn group. You will be surprised to see what's going on.

Lastly, I want to welcome Orthopaedic Center of Central Virginia, our newest Corporate Sponsor to the R2KTC community. We are pleased to have your support!

FIRST LEGO Volunteers Needed 11/14
Lego Boys
If you've never participated in a Lego tournament before, you might be surprised at the fun you'll have. Come watch students from Region 2000 perform the skills they've developed all season; many of them from your neighborhood schools.

The R2KTC and CVCC host the largest LEGO tournament in the state. Visit our website for more information about tournament day and come be a part of the 2009 Lynchburg Regional Tournament. We need volunteers on Friday evening, November 13th (set-up) and Saturday, November to serve as judges and more. This is a great opportunity for:
