Now that vacation season is winding down we are planning some great events for the fall. I hope that you will join us at our next Wired Wednesday luncheon or take advantage of one of the workshops we are sponsoring. Providing you relevant information and networking opportunities is one of our top priorities. I would also like to invite you to join us online at one of our social networking sites. Fall Wired Wednesday Luncheon 9/9
|
What's Next in the Microsoft World?
Come see a live demo of Windows 7, the new operating system that is coming out in October on a multi-touch tablet and check out the new Office 2010 system coming out early next year too! Windows 7 is what Vista should have been - tons of new features, increased speed, and much better compatibility!
Come sit back and see for yourself the rich and powerful new ways to deliver your best work - whether you're using a computer on campus or at home, Web browser, or Smartphone. Wait until you the see the new enhanced Office tools like the Backstage and the Slicer, customizable templates, and photo editing capabilities. Finally we can work in an environment that allows multiple people from different locations to work together at the exact same time using new collaboration capabilities.
Our speaker will be Corinne Hoisington. Corinne is a full-time Professor of Information Systems Technology at Central Virginia Community College with over 20+ years of teaching experience. Corinne also travels over 150,000 miles a year speaking to college & university professors and K12 venues in over 50 cities this year for such customers as the Microsoft Corporation, Course Technology, and many other universities and businesses.
Our Fall Wired Wednesday luncheon will be held on September
9 from noon until 1:30PM in Merritt Hall at Central VA Community
College. The cost is $10 for Tech Council Members and $15 for non-members. RSVP's are requested to rsvp@region2000.org or by calling (434) 847-1447.
Wired Wednesdays are great for networking; come join us!

So you have a website - Now What? 9/10
|
The R2KTC is pleased to sponsor two informative workshops that will help you build a more effective website.
Workshop 1: How to Improve Your Website This class will cover best practices for website design and content. We will also evaluate your website so that we can individually help you improve your current website by providing suggestions.
Workshop 2: Writing Content for Your Website Writing isn't easy. In fact, it's down-right difficult. But if you work hard at it, you can write a website for your business that has all of the qualities of your favorite store -- a place where you love to browse, where you often spend money and where you leave knowing you'll return. This course will provide you with step-by-step instructions on what to do before you ever sit down in front of your computer to begin writing and provide a list of practical tips to help you while you write.
Both workshops will be held on Thursday, September 10, at the SBDC, 147 Mill Ridge Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502. Workshop 1 is from 9:00 to 11:30 AM and Workshop 2 is from 1:00 to 3:00 PM The cost is $10 per workshop or $15 for both.
Call the Region 2000 SBDC at (434) 582-6170 to register today! Check out www.lbdc.com for more information.
