Greetings!
Chinese New Year begins on January 23rd! It is the year of the Dragon, a year that is traditionally associated with prosperity and good fortune. May it be so for you!
We recently attended a local lecture by Stephanie Austin ( www.ecoastrology.com) about astrological influences in 2012. We appreciate her perspective as an astrologer because she is upbeat about the ability of humanity to transform - she presents everything as an opportunity for growth.
Some themes that emerged: - It is essential this year to develop and maintain a centering practice for yourself, to anchor yourself in your core and to stay in the moment.
- Surfing the wave of change
- "Everything is changing".
- "In order for things to be different, everything must change".
- "As outer life becomes more difficult, the inner life becomes more necessary".
From the minutia of the personal to the sweeping of the transpersonal, staying centered will help this year flow more peacefully for each of us. Mars retrograde in Virgo on January 23rd: Asks, "What works? Let the rest go." The emphasis here is on physical health and staying focused and consciously choosing habits that support our physical selves. Again, stay curious: Try some new, yet time honored techniques if you are feeling stale. The February issue of Yoga Journal (www.yogajournal.com) has many ideas and meditation techniques to help keep the mind centered and calm, and yes, even joyful.
