Universal Design Living Laboratory - Details make the difference!
Just outside Columbus, Ohio, a one-of-a-kind home sets a new standard for green, healthy home practices. The owners, visionaries and contractors for the project, Rosemarie Rossetti and Mark Leder, set out to increase awareness of energy-efficient building methods and a healthy home construction approach. "Universal Design" is a framework for design of spaces benefitting the widest possible range of people, including accessibility for people who use wheelchairs.
Guests who tour the home are welcomed by the grand front ProVia Signet door with Inspirations Art Glass. It includes clear circles at heights for Leder, who's 6'4", for Rossetti, who's seated height is 4'2", and for their cat, Boo, to see outside. "We wanted to see people as they came in," said Leder.
 Yes, ProVia cares about details like that! What's more is that this door is ENERGY STAR qualified!
The home is full of examples of sustainable, accessible details, such as a step-free entrance, wide doors and hallways, varied kitchen counter heights and open knee space under all sinks.

Home For Life connects with
Remodeling Contractors and Homeowners
 ProVia is proud to sponsor Home For Life, a virtual tour that showcases ways to save money in remodeling and enable homeowners to stay in their homes well into retirement. Research shows that a high percentage of homeowners plan to stay in their current homes during retirement.
The program is co-sponsored by Hanley Wood and AARP, and enables sponsors like ProVia to gain exposure to contractors working to provide universal design solutions and homeowners planning remodeling projects.
