Via West Scores Highest Marks In New Survey!
|
|
91% of parents and caregivers polled give Via West a 5 on a scale of 1 to 5
Sixty-one out of 67 parents and caregivers gave Via West a perfect score in a survey we now distribute at the end of each weekend session. The surveys were conducted during the five weekend sessions starting with the adult homecoming weekend in October and running through the two December holiday sessions.
"We are thrilled that the surveys we have been receiving have been so affirmative," said Leslie Davis, Via West's Director. "I think this confirms that our Via West families like the many improvements we have made to the programming. The teaching of more life skills, the greater choices of activities and increased use of the iPad are all being positively received."
Via West will continue to conduct surveys and make improvements to the programming based on what parents, caregivers, and participants want to see.

A new year is expected to bring new programs, new staff members and construction upgrades
But first we would like to thank all of our supporters who contributed to our end-of-the-year donation campaign. Without your support, we would not be able to provide such excellent programs to our community.
Looking forward, we're excited to announce that our Via West summer programing now offers a variety of additional choices and lengths of stay. You can click here to view the complete summer brochure and click here to view a visual calendar of all our summer sessions.
The new year also brings us a few new staff members. Occupational therapist Nikki Franco has joined our First Step team as a full-time employee. She will focus on helping those children most at risk for learning delays. Welcome Nikki!
Julie Paulson has been promoted to the position of junior counselor after volunteering for several months as a counselor-in-training at Via West. After attending a full day of training on Jan. 28, Julie (who happens to have Down syndrome) will be working in tandem with a senior counselor to provide care, instruction, and role modeling to participants in our weekend and summer programs. Congratulations, Julie!
Julie Paulson Thanks to a grant made by the eBay Foundation, structural improvements have been made in many areas of the campus. From all of us at Via services: Thank you eBay Foundation!
