Greetings from cloudy Colorado!  We're not quite sure what's going on with the weather here this year.  There's been practically no snow (in town) all winter and it's been exceptionally cloudy and gray.  When historically it's usually very snowy and sunny!

I'd like to welcome my new subscribers and say a heartfelt thank-you to everyone I spend time with here each week.  I love knowing that I'm helping and inspiring you with my business tips and articles, and I take great pleasure in thinking of what you might find motivating and useful.

One thing to keep in mind as you progress in your entrepreneurial career is that many times it's the small, day-to-day actions you take that can produce the greatest benefits.  Of course you'll want to be stretching yourself out of your comfort zone from time to time, taking risks and reinventing yourself periodically, but it's also very important to keep practicing the fundamentals - which is exactly what this week's article is about.

I say this at the end of the article too, but I'll repeat it here:

Small, consistent acts of quality trump over-the-top displays to impress, every time.

Wishing you blessings and success,

Maxine

P.S.  A little about me:  Although I'm a voice-over artist and on-camera spokesperson by trade, during my 25-plus years in the business I've also become a very savvy solopreneur.  I know what it takes to start and grow a business, maintain an imaginative and creative mind-set, create lasting client relationships and, most importantly, thoroughly enjoy the whole process.

If you'd like to learn about how I got started in voice-over and read my extended bio, please visit the "Meet Maxine" page on my website by clicking HERE.

4 Simple Ways to Impress Your Clients

- by Maxine Dunn

We all like the idea of impressing our clients.  That is, leaving them with a very favorable impression of us.  And we hope that if we impress them enough, they'll never leave and will hold us in their highest favor.  After all, our clients and customers are the lifeblood of our businesses and if they become UN-favorably impressed, it could spell trouble.

But when you hear the phrase "impress your clients," what do you think of?  A grandiose effort to present a favorable image?  An over-the-top display to get their attention?

When you're thinking of ways to impress your clients and make yourself stand out above the crowd, it's easy to make the mistake of assuming your actions have to be big, bold, and extraordinary.  But nothing could be further from the truth!

It doesn't have to be difficult or challenging to impress your clients.  In fact, it can be downright simple!

The easiest way to impress your clients lies in your ability to be consistent in four very important areas.  You see it's not always a spectacular display that impresses your clients. It's your day-to-day, job-by-job actions that are the most impressive because they show more of who you are as a person, than a big, flashy one-time occurrence.

If you can be 100 percent consistent and reliable in these four key areas, you'll have some very impressed clients on your hands.

Always be on time.

This applies whether you have an appointment for a meeting or are delivering a product. Make certain that you are on time.  Do NOT be late.  Being behind schedule, being "tardy," or delivering a product later than agreed are some of the fastest ways to leave a poor impression.  So impress your clients by being punctual.  Be on time or early.  All the time.

Always deliver outstanding quality.

Whether it's for a tiny client or a huge client, make sure that every single job you do or every product you produce is the highest quality possible.  Impress your clients with your reliability to deliver outstanding quality.  Every single time.

Always be in a great mood.

Your attitude and state of mind will precede you everywhere you go.  They determine your facial expressions, your overall demeanor and, most importantly, your tone of voice.

I'm sure you've done business with someone who very obviously got up on the wrong side of the bed and then decided to carry that grumpiness with them for the rest of the day.  Rather unpleasant to interact with them, wasn't it?

Well, one of the most common reasons customers take their business elsewhere is because of an unpleasant experience with a business provider.

So make a firm decision from day one in your entrepreneurial efforts that, when doing business with your clients and customers, you will be in a great mood.  Impress your clients by ALWAYS being pleasant, happy and positive.

Always say thank-you.

Thank-you notes are one of the true marks of a gracious professional.  You should be writing them regularly, promptly, and with a personal message in each and every one.  Even if you've expressed gratitude in person, a thank-you note is always appreciated and always appropriate.  Of course if you work for a client regularly you don't need to send a thank-you card after every single job, but make sure you express gratitude on a regular basis.  Impress your clients by showing - in a sincere and tangible way - that you appreciate their business.

So in conclusion, if you want your stock to go up with your clients and customers and really, really impress them, you just can't miss with these four tips.

Small, consistent acts of quality trump over-the-top displays to impress, every time.
