Important News:

Business Customers considering

upgrading to AT&T Uverse

It has been causing enough of a problem for some of our clients for us to want to let all of our customers know that if you are considering upgrading your business accounts to Uverse please be aware that you may have issues with port forwarding with static ip addresses with filtered traffic. This causes issues in how you can access the technology in your office remotely. They now offer what they are calling sticky ip addresses which they say are a replacement, however they cause security concerns on the client side if setup improperly. If you have concerns feel free to contact our office and we can give you more details. This only affects business customers and if you are considering upgrading on the residential side we have not seen any problems.

Do you have a low signal on your wireless network?

One of the most common questions that we have been getting recently is, "My internet is really slow over wireless at our office or at home, what can I do?"

Wireless signals produce different speeds depending on how strong the signal is. Many businesses and homes experience dead spots because of construction or appliances. Once you get to less than 50% signal strength your speed will go down drastically and you will be able to feel a difference.

The good news is there is a reasonably priced solution that is fairly straight forward to fix the problem. Wireless Range Extenders were made to attach to your existing wireless signal and boost that signal. A good example would be if you have good signal on the first floor but a bad signal in the basement. The wireless range extender allows you to plug in to any power socket that still has a good signal inside the room that has the low signal. It will then amplify that signal, sending it back out again. We will usually try to place them  directly underneath the wireless unit on the floor above which usually gives you enough signal to get through the subfloor than it will send the signal out enough to cover the entire basement. They take about 15 minutes to setup and after a little playing with placement, you do not have to touch them again.

If you have problems setting up your wireless network, or would like our help please let us know.

Warning! Do not install two wireless routers in your home. We see this often as an intended fix for this issue. Your wireless network will become unreliable. This is because the two routers will sometimes have the same settings which causes them to fight each other. You can tell it is a router because it will say router somewhere on the boxes usually on the bottom. You should only ever have one router on a network.
