The 2011 White Lake Area Visitor's Guide
| |
Cobb Communications is currently hard at work putting together the 2011 White Lake Area Visitor's Guide. There is still time to contact them to get added to the guide.
With over 50,000 visitor's guides produced each year, this is the biggest and best piece we offer for the area, and is the best way to get your name in the hands of visitors in this area, as well as potential tourists. These guides are distributed all over Michigan and surrounding states. We also promote the White Lake Area with them at multiple trade and travel shows throughout the year, getting them to thousands of people. This is all in addition to the thousands of people we send them to in regular mailings, as well as giving them to every person that steps into the Chamber looking for local information.
We want the 2011 Visitor's Guide to be the most complete representation of the White Lake Area. Don't be left in the dark next year when visitors are looking for something to do. Contact Cobb Communications to be included in this popular piece at 616-772-9820.

| Santa Claus Comes to the White Lake Area for the 58th Annual Christmas Parade |
On Saturday, December 4th, over 100 participants will line up and follow the parade route from Whitehall to Montague. As usual, the parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. with line-up starting at 1:00 p.m. alongside the Whitehall City Hall tennis courts on Elizabeth Street. Civic organizations and businesses, floats, fire trucks, and the marching bands from both Montague and Whitehall are just a few in the line-up to make this an exciting parade. As the Grand Finale, Santa will be riding in a horse-drawn carriage. After the parade, children of all ages can join Santa at his house outside Montague City Hall. The community looks forward to sharing in this holiday season with family, friends, and neighbors. Once again, the Christmas parade is sponsored by White Lake Agency. Entry in the parade is free for Chamber members and non-profit groups & individuals. Please contact the Chamber for an application. |
| Support Local Businesses by Shopping Local |
This is just a friendly reminder to shop locally first! Shopping local doesn't mean it's the only way to shop, but suggests the first and best way to shop is in the White Lake Area by supporting our local businesses.
The White Lake Center, downtown Montague and Whitehall, and outlying areas are indeed open for business. These various businesses and industries rely on the support of their neighbors and friends. The community, now more than ever, needs to show their continued support by shopping local first.
The White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce sells White Lake Area Gift Certificates year-round, with most of the Montague and Whitehall stores participating. This is just another great way to keep those hard-earned dollars local.
With the holiday season just around the corner, White Lake Area Gift Certificates are the perfect present foranybody! We print the White Lake Area Gift Certificates right here in our Chamber office, through a local bank, so everything is kept within our community. You can get Gift Certificates in any amount, and in any quantity. Eachcertificate comes in its own envelope with a list of all participating businesses in the Montague and Whitehall area. If you have a large order, just call the Chamber and we'll have them ready for you. So, remember the next time you're heading out of town, think twice about shopping local and take advantage of what the White Lake Area has to offer!
The following are the top ten reasons why to shop locally first:
1. Significantly more money re-circulates in White Lake.
2. Non-profits receive greater support.
3. Unique businesses are an integral part of our distinctive character.
4. Economic impact is increased.
5. Most new jobs are provided by local businesses.
6. Customer service is better.
7. Local business owners invest in community.
8. Public benefits far outweigh public costs.
9. Competition and diversity leads to more consumer choice.
10. Investment in White Lake is encouraged.
