AIM Tournament
Green Bay is full of walleyes and I came home with cut up hands again. I finished 15 using Off Shore in line planer boards with in-line one oz weights and spinners with worm harness.
I trolled 1.2-1.9 mph depending on the current. I would go slower into the current and faster with it so the spinners would be close to the same depth. this is very important when you troll weighted lures and want to keep the lure at the target depth.
Copper and purple blades worked the best with any color bead. I tried Northland and Silver Streak blades like I did at Erie but the fish preferred plain copper. The winners trolled crankbaits.
Lake of the Woods has more walleyes than Green Bay and they can be caught anywhere. the lake basin is 32-36 feet deep and fairly hard bottom with fish using the entire lake bottom. You can stop the boat in the middle of the lake and jig up walleyes from 8 inches to 30 inches. I finished 11th which was disappointing but tournament fishing is often disappointing. I used jig and shiner with a Northland Slurp jig because of the large hook helped get more fish/bite and I would place the keeper wires in the minnows mouth to keep the minnow on longer.
