Lorain AIM Tournament
NPAA member #80 Bruce "Doc" Samson wins the Lorain AIM tournament by 16 pounds. He put together a 3 day limit of 186.06 lbs for the new AIM 3 day record for 21 walleye. Doc is known for his boat control and structure fishing skills and Mike Gofron who finished 2nd has called him "Bobber Bruce" since Doc has won 4 major walleye tournaments with slipbobbers. This is Doc's first AIM win and added to his 4 PWT, 2 MWC and 1 FEW wins he now has 8 major walleye tournament wins.
This is Doc's first trolling win and the timing is perfect. His new Trolling Planer Board Trolling DVD was just released this week. The DVD is co-authored with Captain Ross Robertson who is an expert on trolling planer boards. They share their secrets and cover basics to advanced trolling.
Doc fished by the weather buoy using 3 oz inline weights and spinner worm harnesses. He used size 5 and 6 Colorado blades, size 8 Indiana blades and double willow blades. The blades were bought at a local store (Erie Outfitters) and were Silver Streak blades.
Speed 1.3-1.7 mph and 40-70 feet of line out.
