Understanding Sonar Article

Small fish or keeper fish, this is a tough question when we try to interpret our sonar. I have a few tips on deciding size and species so you can fish effectively. You can use the sonar to determine size but the number of fish present is another good clue. Read More

Tournament Crankbait Contest

Green Bay

I stayed with spinners and briefly tested crankbaits but the winner caught some of his fish on Husky Jerks, I will remember this when I return!

Green Bay video

The camera boat caught me in some action video. They wanted to get in the boat the first day but we were too busy handling fish and re-baiting to let them in. They got on board late and still saw lots of action the first day. They filmed a long battle with my biggest walleye that came un-buttoned right by the boat. I have worked on never losing a fish for years and it is impossible to catch everyone. When you win they seem to stay hooked!

Doc's tournament Schedule

I will be fishing all 5 AIM tournaments in 2010.

AIM is an organization of anglers who started a new tournament circuit using CRR. Catch Release Record. You catch the fish, measure it and release it. Slot limits are not applicable since no fish is kept.

Tournament Tactics

 Green Bay AIM
I finished 20th but I had an opportunity! My big fish (26 inches) disappeared in the morning of day 2 so I scrambled to fill my limit. The fishing on green Bay is excellent with most of the fish 19-26 inches where I fished.  My presentation was spinners with nightcrawlers, in line weights to get the right depth and boards. I had many blades that worked but copper and gold worked the best and I had good luck with the Northland Willowleaf blade in the yellow perch color. Any bead color worked with the blades.
