Greetings!

I love beginnings.  And this year is no Janet Levine Consulting Headerexception.  Yes, there will be plenty of challenges, but also a lot of promise.   A new year that promises to be exciting and yes, challenging.  There's a lot of talk out there about how difficult this year is going to be for nonprofits.  Indeed, there is a sense that if you can survive 2010, you'll be golden in 2011.  If.

Meeting that challenge is going to take a lot of creativity, hard work and, I believe, arming yourself with the best tools.   Learning the most about best fundraising practices is one of those-so check out our new online classes at courses.lmlearningstation.com

Most important will be understanding exactly what your challenges are.  Is it raising enough money to keep your doors open?  Getting the word out about the good works you do?  Motivating your Board?  Or recruiting great staff?  I'd love to hear what your biggest challenge is-and what you think you need to do to conquer it.  Email me and let me know, and next month, I'll report back as to what your colleagues are facing.

Grant Seekers Face a Tough 2010
That grant seekers are now facing a tougher time obtaining grants from both federal and private funders is not a surprise or a secret to anybody.  It is caused by an increase in competition and a decrease in funding. For some highly competitive federal programs the funding odds have become as low as 2%. In the private sector, many funders are no longer looking at new grantees.  This increased competition and higher funders' expectations are driving up the quality of grant submissions. READ MORE
Laser Sharp and Focused Fundraising
Janet Levine Consulting Header Several of my clients were faced with the same all-too-common problems  --- too few resources combined with too much need.  We've come up with a simple strategy that works: FOCUS. We've discovered that real success can be achieved by focused fundraising -- putting your efforts on one thing for three months and doing it really well.

By shining a laser sharp light, we've been able to maximize current efforts or effectively introduce one new idea. The first step is identifying your highest priority or need right now.

Once you know what that is, you can match the best fundraising tactics and identify how to best deploy your resources. READ MORE
