Greetings!
We've been challenged!
We just learned that we have an anonymous donor who is willing to match any donations this month up to $10,000.00!
I can't imagine finding anything more exciting in my stocking this year than $20,000.00 in donations! We could really hit the ground running in the New Year and do some amazing things for parents!
As 2010 winds down, and you make your year-end donations, would you please consider helping Operation: PARENT by donating on-line, or mailing a check (made payable to "Operation: PARENT") to: 13029 Middletown Industrial Boulevard Louisville KY 40223 (We are a 501(C)3 non-profit organization)
We'll be sure to report the results of this challenge back to you!
A heartfelt thank you from all of us here at Operation: PARENT!

Deadline for Tickets at reduced price - 12/31/10
Here's our chance to counter the toxic culture! Our kids are bombarded every day with negative messages that condone underage drinking, drugging, "hanging out" with the wrong crowd and disrespecting authority. Sarah has a different message for kids...and one they will never forget. Please join parents and teens (and pre-teens) from all over our community and let's "drive the message home" together!

Jill Howard is our new Community Events Director and is organizing a silent auction, refreshments and ticket sales. A few more volunteers would be wonderful so please give her a call at
502/558-9478 or email bubbud@msn.com.

Parenting Tip
Mmm...Christmas shopping for teens and pre-teens...what to buy??
Well here's a suggestion on what NOT to buy.
Remember Session 1 in our Parenting 101 class when Bill Oliver talks about "how do you make a toxic child?"...and he compares it to making a pickle by letting a cucumber soak in a sour mixture for an extended period of time...and once a cucumber becomes a pickle, it will never be a cucumber again? Well, the point he is making is that we want to avoid or minimize the time our kids spend soaking in today's toxic culture so I'm going to suggest the worst thing you can buy this year is a violent video game or R rated movie. You will be bringing the toxic culture right into your house and sending the message that it's ok to soak in it! Click on commonsensemedia.org or pluggedin.org and find some alternative games and movies this Christmas! Wouldn't it be awesome if sales of violent video games and R rated movies plummeted this year in our communities? Let's send a strong message that parents are no longer going to fund or "tolerate" anything that supports the toxic culture in 2011. Let's buy gifts that make them healthier, happier and better citizens. |
