Your online resource to parenting teens!
Dear Operation: SPIRIT Supporter,

Thank you for taking the time to check out our new e-newsletter! It couldn't come at a better time because I have big news to share with you in this first edition...

New Headquarters
Operation: SPIRIT is about to get a major "facelift" and transition into "phase 2" of our development as we move out of South Oldham High School this week, and into our very own facility!

We have been blessed by Mr. Paul Lichtefeld, Sr. with 5,000 SF of office space, rent-free for two years, in Middletown (just behind the Walmart) to use as our headquarters and administrative offices. Mr. Lichtefeld's daughter-in-law, Laura Lichtefeld, took our Parenting 101 class a year ago, and has become a full-time facilitator and volunteer ever since! This new office space will provide greater visibility and accessibility for parents in our community, allow for the expansion of our staff, and show everyone just how serious we are about our mission to educate, encourage, equip and engage parents of teenagers!

Effective December 1, 2009, our new address will be:
13029 Middletown Industrial Boulevard
Suite 100
Louisville KY 40223

Our new phone number will be:
(502) 245-7154

We will continue to offer our Parenting 101 classes on the South Oldham Campus and support all of our services in Oldham County. Please come see us anytime!

New Name
Operation: PARENTOperation: SPIRIT will also be changing our name to Operation: PARENT (January, 2010) to more accurately reflect who we are and what we do. Now that we're transitioning into phase 2, we want to make sure there is no confusion about the purpose of our parent-driven, non-profit organization.

We have been told by many out in the community that they thought we were either a religious organization or associated with school booster clubs. Let there be no confusion...We exist for the sole purpose of serving PARENTS of teenagers. New name, but same organization, same mission and vision!

Our new email address is:
info@operationparent.org
YOU'RE INVITED!
Operation: PARENT proudly invites you to our grand opening towards the end of January! We're excited for you to take a tour and enjoy some refreshments as we officially open our doors to parents, grandparents, business and community leaders from Louisville and beyond. As always, you are welcome to bring friends and neighbors too! Keep an eye out for our next newsletter, in which we'll announce the date and time!
THIS WEEK'S PARENTING TIP:
Why not get your teen something counter-cultural this year for Christmas? Instead of buying that violent video game (like Call of Duty or Halo 3), maybe a sports video (such as Wii Sports Resort) would be better. To read the latest reviews (or check on ratings) for movies, video games, music and more, go to www.pluggedinonline.com.

A Note About This E-Newsletter

I look forward to keeping in better touch with all of you in 2010. Amazing things happen every week and I want to keep you in the loop as our organization grows, and always encourage you to stay connected to us, your teen and to other parents. I want you to know that together, we are inspiring more and more parents to sit down together and take time to address some really tough issues as they work hard to raise incredible teenagers. No more need for isolation! Finally, as we come across timely articles or new information regarding the teen culture or parenting issues, I'll pass it along as well.

Keep parenting--you're not alone!
