June PA Bulletin out soon
The June Bulletin -- the final issue of the year! -- will be out shortly; you will be notified by email when it is available online. Look for parting words from our outgoing co-presidents and a welcome from the incoming co-presidents, with Alex Cai in both roles, as well as informative articles on college issues.
The May Parents' Association Bulletin is still available on the PA website at www.stuy-pa.org/padocs/bulletin/STUYBull.MAY.%202010.WEB.FINAL.pdf .
Remember: to receive a hard copy of the Bulletin in the mail, you MUST send in a request for a hard copy. You may email your request with your home address to florence@stuypanews.org. |
Do not call your child on their cell phone while they are at school!
Mr. Teitel and Ms. Damasek have asked us to remind you that the Chancellor's regulations strictly prohibit students from having cell phones in their possession in the school building. Remind your child that, if they have a cell phone in the building, it must be kept out of sight and switched OFF (not just on "vibrate"). If you have a truly urgent message for your child, call the school office at 212-312-4800; school staff have the students' schedules and can locate a student if necessary. Do not call your child's cell phone -- your call might get the student in trouble and lead to the confiscation of their cell phone.
New Web Site for NYC Grads
The Department of Education recently launched a new Web site, www.nycgrads.org, to help them stay in touch with graduates of New York City public schools. They say, "The site, created by The Fund for Public Schools, will help us build a community of alumni to make our schools stronger for the generations to come. If you're a graduate of a public school in New York City, or if you're graduating this year, please be sure to register. The first school to get 75 current seniors to sign up will win a $1,500 gift certificate to Staples. Every alumnus who signs up will receive a coupon to Modell's Sporting Goods and the chance to win a $200 Modell's gift certificate."
