Greetings!

We have exciting happenings coming up:  this Tuesday will be our monthly PA meeting, with some important votes and an interesting guest speaker.  And a week from Thursday is the annual College Fair -- volunteers are needed to make this valuable event work!

Note that nominations for positions on the Parents Association
Executive Board and on the School Leadership Team are still open.  This is a great way to contribute to a great school, so think hard about whether you or someone you know would make a good candidate.

Special presentation on stress reduction
Less sleep, more fights? Homework marathons or seeming nonchalance? Adapting to Stuyvesant's high standards can breed high pressure, especially for students and families used to easy academic excellence. How can we parents help reduce stress and foster healthy development in our children? Don't miss a special evening April 20 with distinguished child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Alan Schlechter of the NYU Child Study Center, followed by Q & A.

Over 150 college admissions representatives will visit Stuyvesant to meet with our families.

The PA needs volunteers from 2:30-6:30 pm to help set up and clean up -- it's especially helpful to have senior and freshman parents help, since they will probably not be meeting with the college reps.  You can sign up for a shift from 2:30-5:40, 3:00-5:40, or 5:30-6:30.  To volunteer, please contact:

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR SENIORS

GRADUATION ALERT

Dear Seniors and Parents:

Due to circumstances beyond our control Stuyvesant was forced to change this year's graduation date and venue.  Graduation for the Class of 2010 will now take place on Thursday, June 24th at the Palace Theater.  The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m.  The Palace Theater is located on Broadway at 175th Street in Manhattan.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Hopefully this announcement is early enough to amend any previous plans. We look forward to another fantastic graduation, this time at the Palace Theater.

Sincerely,
James A. Lonardo
Senior Activities Advisor
