It's hard to believe that the school year is half over!  Best of luck to our kids (and to us) as we all embark on the second semester of this academic year.  I continue to urge you to read the monthly PA Bulletin and to find ways to stay involved in our kids' school experience.
 
The "save the date" reminder for the PA's big annual fundraiser, the annual Lunar Feast, is still in this newsletter to remind everyone to join in the festivities, and to let us know if you can help out with the event.  It's another great opportunity to do a good thing for the school and to have a good time.

The current Parents' Association bulletin is just a click away on the PA website, at www.stuy-pa.org .  Check it out to learn about the qualitative differences between the SAT and the ACT from the president and founder of Appelrouth Tutoring Services, Jed Appelrouth.  This month's issue also includes the latest updates on the State and City budget cuts and the impact on the Stuy school budget.  And the January Bulletin has a special invitation to all Stuy parents to attend the 7th annual New Year Lunar Feast gala celebration, and lots more. Parent volunteers are needed at this annual event for students accepted to next year's incoming freshman class.  To assist, contact Stuyvesant Parent Coordinator Harvey Blumm at hblumm@stuy.edu .

Discount ice-skating in Battery Park City
A temporary rink has opened two blocks from Stuy in Battery Park City and will be there until February 15.  The operator has offered to give students a discount on school days between 3-6pm:  $7 admission and $9 admission plus skate rental.  (The prices are normally $10 and $13 respectively.)  What a great way for the kids to unwind and have fun!
