Greetings!

As you think about end-of-year donations at this season, please keep Stuyvesant in mind.  Our school depends on your support -- just this past week the PA approved a modified budget including the allocation of $60,000 towards after-school activities that had been eliminated by City budget cuts.  We need your help to be able to make these important contributions to the school.  Please respond generously to our recent Annual Appeal mailing, or donate online at www.stuy-pa.org

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday break from some of your daily routines, and that we all return in January renewed and ready to tackle our challenges once again.  I look forward to corresponding with you in the new year.

Sincerely,

Florence Hutner
Corresponding Secretary
Update from last week's Parents' Association meeting
PA to fund after-school programs

We had a fabulous turn-out at last week's PA meeting -- thanks to all who attended!  For those of you who were not there for the presentations about summer opportunities for students, all the materials that were handed out at the meeting are available on the PA website at www.stuy-pa.org -- check them out!  Handouts on other subjects will be posted on the website as well.

Additionally, the PA approved a modified budget of $106,000, including $60,000 to cover "per-session" after-school programs.  This allocation will enable programs that were cut by the budget reductions to resume.
We still need everyone's help in sending in their "free lunch" form!

If you didn't already send in your "free lunch" form, it's your last chance -- they have to be in by this Wednesday!  We still need every family to send in their form. As we have been telling you for the last couple of weeks, you can help us qualify as a "Title I" school -- this is such an easy way to counter some of the severe budget cuts that we are anticipating that it's like making a financial contribution to the school without writing a check!

To obtain an original 2009-2010 Application for Free and Reduced-Price
Meals in any of the 15 languages available, please contact the school

The forms have been put up on the PA website, at www.stuy-pa.org -- you can download them there.  Since the form must be in red ink, if you do not have a color printer, have your child please pick it up at school.

The forms must be returned by Wednesday December 23; please mail them to:
