GOAL1As a new member of the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, I would like to take a moment to introduce our organization, the G.O.A.L. Academy. The Guided Online Academic Learning, or GOAL, Academy is a Free Online Public Charter School serving students statewide.  We have grown from our initial year serving students in Pueblo Colorado, to serving students everywhere from Greeley to Lamar and just about everywhere in-between.  Our program is designed to help students, 14-20 years of age, obtain an accredited high school diploma.

GOAL2Our school model is one that is much different from most online schools in that we have a 'high tech, high touch' philosophy.  We understand that students who choose online education should not have to give up the relationship between a student and their teacher.  We connect teachers with students in the areas we serve students, hiring staff from the communities in which we service students.   The main purpose of this movement is that most, if not all, online schools focus on one thing...computer delivery of an education.  At the G.O.A.L. Academy, we understand that in many cases where at risk students are involved, they have already struggled in school and just handing them a computer and thinking they will have the self-driven rigor to complete school is unrealistic.

GOAL3We are very fortunate to work with an amazing cross population of students.  We are able to help the student who was not by traditional standards a 'model' student;  drop out students who, for some life obstacle, had to put their education on hold;  teen parents who know that their success is now going to affect not only them, but their child(ren);  gifted and talented students who are not being served effectively through mainstream public school, we find this is usually because of budget constraints on the school district;  and,  for homeschooled students who can still have that home school experience, as well as the support system to both the student and parent who may not be able to teach certain levels of curriculum outside of their own knowledge base.

GOAL4In addition to our dedicated staff, we have selected curriculum that is proficiency based, allowing each student to work at a pace that is conducive to their learning style.  This type of curriculum, coupled with an Academic Team to support each individual student, promotes success within our school and sets us apart from other online programs. If you wish to learn more about all the G.O.A.L. Academy has to offer, please visit our website at www.goalac.org or contact Christina Tozzie at 303-587-8974.
