Tips of the Trade
Today's Tips of the Trade is brought to you by 20/20 Strategy The Power of Word of Mouth
WOM is personal and friendly We're not reinventing the marketing wheel, simply remembering the significance of dialogue and interpersonal communication. Unlike the sometimes distant and impersonal online forms of communication, WOM provides customers and businesses with the opportunity to send and receive information from typically trusted sources like colleagues, friends, family and business partners. It also peels us away from the computer screen and gets us out in the world again. As the old saying goes, consumers are more likely to buy a car from someone they were referred to by a friend rather than some random car salesman whose advertisement appeared on the side of a search engine website. How to network and build WOM Like wildfire, WOM has massive potential to spread quickly. Here are some ideas you can consider to start getting your message out there! · Join your local chamber of commerce. Chambers often host an abundant array of networking and business-related events that are great ways to meet other like-minded business owners and community members. Getting involved with a Chamber will boost your client base and expand your professional networks. · Participate in industry associations. Work in public relations? Become a member of aPublic Relations Society of America (PRSA) local chapter. Marketing? Check out the Business Marketing Association. You'll get customized industry guidance and support from organizations like these that seek to foster the growth of your business. · Locate professional groups and membership organizations. Groups like the Arvada Young Professionals sponsor, support and promote social activities involving the local community. You can find a number of these organizations and their events on Meetup sites and social networking pages.
