Shattering the Perception of People with Disabilities

ACT1Do you remember the first time you rode a bicycle? The wind in your face, the unadulterated freedom?  Both children born with disabilities and adults who acquire them, rarely have the opportunity to experience that joy and liberating experience of riding a bicycle.

Assisted Cycling Tours (ACT) provides that opportunity for people with disabilities and their families. The Arvada based non profit organization, and recent ACT5member of the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, was started by Bob Matter 4 years ago when he realized that his teen son, affected by Autism, had very few if any options for recreational opportunities with family and friends through usual community resources. Using regular, tandem and other adaptive cycles ACT coordinates clinics, trainings and trips and shows families how to create excursions of one or more days, allowing families of people with disabilities the opportunity to do something together as one.

ACTpedalFor the second year in a row, Assisted Cycling Tours will hold an annual Pedal For Your Cause event in Longmont on Sunday August 14th.  There will be 10, 25 and 50 mile routes to accommodate all levels and ACT will make our tandem bikes available to accommodate people with disabilities who cannot ride independently. Pedal For Your Cause is not only a fundraiser for ACT, but it is also a ride to raise awareness about the abilities of people with disabilities. If a rider is passionate about a particular disability, they can designate any additional funds they raise over and above the registration fee (not required, but appreciated) to have ACT do programming for their particular disability.

ACT3ACT is seeking riders (individuals and teams), sponsors and volunteers for the event. We would like to invite business leaders, families, avid cyclists and members of the community to participate in any way they choose. Information can be found at http://pedal4yourcause.org/ or you may contact us directly at:

Discounted Tickets

ColoradoAvalanche

New Colorado Avalanche season ticket promotion:

If you buy full season tickets anywhere in the arena you can buy the same number of full season tickets in the lower level (sections 112, 114, 110, 116) for only $1,010 each (usually $3,740 each).  For example, if you buy two season tickets in the upper mid end (which is the least expensive area at $1,012 each) you can buy two season tickets in the lower level for $1,010 each, thus taking advantage of this special deal.

With this ticket special you could get four full season tickets (two upper level and two lower level) for only $4,044 total.  The regular total cost of getting two upper and two lower season tickets would be $9,504 (savings of over 50%).

*In addition, for $2,022 we can match you up with a partner and you will each have two tickets for 22 games in the lower level and two tickets for 22 games in the upper level.  You still have all the benefits of a full season ticket holder!
