Semi-Pro Baseball Team comes to Arvada!
The Arvada Colts semi-pro baseball club, formerly based in Gunnison, has completed a move to Arvada. The Colts will be hosting home games at Long Lake Ranch recreation facility in west Arvada. The Colts play in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League (RMBL) and the season starts on May 27, 2011 and runs through July 24, 2011. The RMBL is an instructional league for collegiate athletes from around the country. Last season the Colts finished in 7th place (out of 64) at the National Baseball Congress World Series. In the last three years the team has recorded two top ten finishes and one top 20 finish in the World Series. The Arvada Colts are a non-profit organization and the roster consists of 28 players with 15 being from the state of Colorado. Colts players come from great programs such as BYU, Fort Hays State, Yavapai, Dayton, Wayne State, Metro State, Trinidad State and Colorado School of Mines to name a few. The Arvada Colts are building a community based program and strive to include the residents and sports fans from Arvada and the surrounding communities. A vast majority of the funding for the team comes from fundraisers the team organizes throughout the year including a golf tournament, youth baseball camps, advertising opportunities and private donations.
