City Council Notes

On January 4th City Council passed an emergency temporary ordinance putting a moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries in Arvada. This ordinance went into effect at 7:30pm on January 4, 2010. There will be an opportunity for public comment. The moratorium is set to expire in July, but there may be a public hearing scheduled for a proposed ordinance when the moratorium has expired and new licencing and zoning regluations are proposed, based upon actions taken by the State legislature.

Council also recognized Jefferson County Superintendent Dr. Cindy Stevenson for receiving the honor of Colorado Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Stevenson is one of four finalists for National Superintendent of the Year! The National award will be announced in February. Congratulations Dr. Stevenson!!
