With winter here, it's important to take care when you are walking in snowy conditions. Here are a few tips that will help you avoid slipping on the ice or snow:
- Wear shoes or boots that provide traction on snow and ice: rubber and neoprene composite. Avoid plastic and leather soles.
- Take small steps to keep your center of balance under you.
- When walking on ice, bend slightly and walk flat-footed with your center of gravity directly over the feet as much as possible
- Walk slowly and never run on icy ground.

Roasted Broccoli
Yield: 4-6 servings 6 cups broccoli florets (with 2" of stem remaining) 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil 1 quarter cup dried cranberries* half tsp. sea salt 1 quarter cup pumpkin seeds, toasted**
Procedure: 1. Preheat oven to 400°F. 2. In a mixing bowl, toss together the broccoli, oil, cranberries and salt. 3. Spread onto a baking sheet and bake for approximately 12 minutes. 4. Return to mixing bowl and toss with toasted pumpkin seeds. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes * Most dried cranberries are sweetened with refined sugar. Look for those which specify they are fruit juice sweetened. ** Toast pumpkin seeds at 300°F for 8-10 minutes or until slightly browned and puffed up. Listen for the sound of the seeds popping because it doesn't take long for them to go from toasted to burned.

Making a difference is your community is something we can all do. We are thankful for the abundances that we enjoy in our lives, and when we take a moment and share with those less fortunate, the impact is incredible. A small token, but a huge difference. Thank you, , for helping to make a difference in the lives of some of the people in our community.
Sincerely,
