"Salsa Baroque"  Ensemble Caprice

Discover a new musical world! During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the musical dialogue between the Old and the New Worlds produced extraordinary results. This fascinating blend of European polyphony and Latin American traditional music created a unique style.  Gems from this spectacular musical era will be performed on instruments that were common at the time:  flutes and recorders, baroque guitar, violoncello and various percussion instruments.

These concerts are fund raising events for the music department of St. Matthias.  A post concert reception will be included with your admission.

New Study
at Church of Good Shepherd, Sun Prairie

New Study Beginning at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Sun Prairie

Hosted by Madison Area All Saints Chapter

Led by June Paul, Former DOK Diocesan President

Saturday, September 8th -   9:00am - 10:00 am

Morning Prayer at 8:30 am followed by the study

Participating in the Study does not say that you will become a member of the Order - but participating in the Study will help you learn whether or not the Lord is calling you to become a member of this Order. If you are interested and do not have a Chapter in your Home Church you are welcome to come and learn and grow with us until you do!

What do members of the Order of the Daughters of the King do?

Members are called to 'be'- not to 'do'. That might sound funny, but often women, like Martha in the Bible, get caught up in all the busy work of the church and their communities. When Martha complained about Mary's stillness, Jesus told her that he wasn't going to take away Mary's ability to find time to simply 'be' in His presence.

Whether or not you become a member of the order, participating in the Study of the Order will help you to balance your larger commitments to the church and world with your personal commitment to your relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Church of the Good Shepherd is located at:

3416 Swansee Ridge, Sun Prairie, WI 53590    Phone: 608-837-3308

All are welcome at Julian Gathering at
St. Dunstan's, Madison on September 12th

The Madison-area Julian Gathering has been meeting each month for four and a half years; a number of people have come to see what we do and some have become 'regulars.'  We welcome everyone who is interested in learning more about contemplative spirituality in the Christian tradition.

We meet monthly for contemplative prayer, after which we discuss a reading from Julian of Norwich, a 14th Century English mystic who has been called "a theologian for our time."  These gatherings are supported by the Order of Julian of Norwich, a contemplative monastic order in the Episcopal Church.  We meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7:15 PM at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 6205 University Ave., Madison, WI.  We end promptly at 9 PM.  We would love to have you join us.  If you have questions, call Susan Fiore, AOJN at (608) 845-2413 or e-mail at [email protected]

Registration for Diocesan Church Development Institute (DCDI) 2012-2013

As I watched the 2012 summer Olympics there was a lot of talk about team and the importance of team in success. The women's coach on the swimming team gave each athlete a tag with one side indicating the London 2012 Olympics and on the flip side their individual event.

This is not that different from Diocesan Church Development Institute (DCDI). We train parish teams in leadership development. We are all working toward bringing people to know God through Jesus, yet we have our own individual and community ways of doing that. Our goal is to help people ask questions, look at things in new ways and to be intentional in their planning. If you would like to be a part of our next training cycle the time is now to sign up. We have 20 seats available.

This next cycle will be the Friday - Saturday format but cycle 2 will be a Saturday - Sunday format. This new format gives us the opportunity to invite people who cannot take a Friday off and lets us experience Morning Prayer not only at DCDI but also at our home parishes if we choose. We will have training opportunities this coming year on leading Morning Prayer.

  • Our DCDI dates are: Cycle 1 begins on Nov. 1- 2, 2012; Feb. 8 - 9; April 12 - 13; June 7 - 8.
  • Cycle 2 begins on November 16 - 17, 2013; Feb. 8 - 9; April 5 - 6; May 17 - 18, 2014.

Another new opportunity will be for all those we have graduated from Diocesan CDI to meet on Saturdays from 10 until 2 to share with one another what they been working on and to practice as well as learn new theories, methods and skills. We will meet at Holy Wisdom Monastery in Madison while DCDI is in session and preregistration will be required.

To register for our next Cycle:

Email Peggy Bean at [email protected] with the following information: Name, contact information, who you will be attending with you or who has attended from your congregation, and in 25 words or less why you want to participate in this training and what you hope to learn.
