All Saints' Cathedral Shares a Secret!

We've been keeping a secret! And finally, we can tell everyone:

All Saints' Cathedral figured into actress Edie Falco's search for her family's history, facilitated by NBC's "Who Do You Think You Are?" Falco, whose story will be recounted on the episode of the NBC reality show airing this Friday night, April 6 at 7 p.m., visited All Saints' in late January to tape part of the Milwaukee segment.

Show producers contacted the cathedral in June, 2011, to inquire into marriage or baptismal records from the mid-1870s that might help them to flesh out the tale of Falco's mother's ancestors. This information, along with other data garnered from the Milwaukee County Historical Society, helped set the stage for her journey into her family's past - dispelling some elements of family lore and filling in empty places in the record.

Each episode of the series, now in its third season, accompanies a celebrity on a compelling journey through his or her family's past. The genealogical quest frequently carries the celebrity, and viewers, on an international tour of clues into the challenges, decisions and twists of fate that made his or her existence possible.

Beginning in Lent and continuing through May 25, donors have the opportunity to make their dollars go even further toward fighting malaria in Africa.  During this period, any donation made to the NetsforLife Inspiration Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $430,000, thanks to a group of generous Episcopal Relief & Development donors.  This means nearly $1 million will be raised to fight malaria in sub-Saharan Africa, through the NetsforLife program partnership.

Any size gift to the NetsforLife Inspiration Fund - online, by mail or by phone - will be matched in full until May 25, or as long as matching funds are available.  We encourage donors to also consider taking advantage of company matching programs as well.

Episcopal Relief & Development is the international relief and development agency of the Episcopal Church and an independent 501(c)(3) organization.

St. Boniface Talks Religion and Politics  St. Boniface Episcopal Church (located at 3906 West Mequon Road, Mequon WI 63092) announces a discussion on religion and politics with a bible study of Amos and Hosea on Tuesday mornings beginning April 17, 2012.

This study, entitled Amos and Hosea: Boundaries, Tough Love, and Amazing Grace, uses the Kerygma curriculum that is characterized by enthusiastic, small group interaction focused on helping participants to apply bible lessons to everyday life.

During the 10 week session, the group will discuss boundaries between church and state, boundaries between "us" and "them," boundaries between worship and service, who and how we trust and when trust can lead us to idolatry.

The Kerygma Program states, "Amos' and Hosea's message is surely relevant for a society such as ours, divided as it is on issues of theology, politics, economics, government, and morality. We need to hear about God's tough love and amazing grace which are extended to a people who have often broken the Divine heart."

The study is open to everyone regardless of church or religious affiliation or political point of view. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Church beginning April 17. .To reserve your spot, please contact the church at 262-242-2994 or kmiller@saintbonifacechurch.com. There is no cost to attend this class however,  an optional study guide is available for $25.

St. Peter's, West Allis:
Update & Invitation

In 2010 and 2011, St. Peter's - West Allis participated in a number of introspective activities under the direction of Interim Rector Gary Lambert and the Bishop's Assistant for Congregational Development and Deployment, Peggy Bean.   We discussed who we were, who we are, where we are, and who we hope to become.

We identified our collective faith, hospitality, worship, and outreach as core values and are in the process of increasing our levels of commitment to each of these areas.

We dream of the day in which we will be able to open our doors for services - Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Eucharist - daily.   While we're not there yet, we have decided that we can worship in a manner closer to that ideal during Holy Week.   We are extending our Holy Week worship path - our climax to Lent - with services of special significance each day.    We welcome friends and strangers alike to join us on our journey.

Julian Gathering

Julian Gathering, Wednesday, April 11, 7:15 - 9:00 PM, St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, Madison, WI.

What is a Julian Gathering? A Julian Gathering is open to everyone and you are welcome at all times. We support each other in the practice of contemplative prayer and contemplative spirituality. These gatherings are initiated and supported by the Order of Julian of Norwich (www.orderofjulian.org) and have the quintessentially Anglican writings of Bl. Mother Julian of Norwich at their core. They are for all who want to deepen their life of faith through the practice of contemplative prayer, for beginners as well as those already practicing. Each meeting includes time for contemplative prayer and reading/discussion of Bl. Julian's revelations. Don't worry if you've never practiced silent prayer before, we can set your mind at ease. We meet the second Wednesday of each month from 7:15 to 9 PM at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 6205 University Ave., Madison, WI. Our next meeting is Wednesday, April 11. For additional information, contact Susan Fiore: (608) 845-2413 or slfiore@mac.com.
