I believe we worship a Beautiful, Excellent, HoRev. Carla McCookly, Awesome, GOD! I believe that God gives each and every one of us Bold, Exciting, Hair-raisin', Audacious, Goals (BEHAG). My BEHAG is that we will build a diocese that is in community with itself and the broader communities that surround us. We will live into a way of being that includes clear and consistent communication with one another, a ministry of collaboration among people and parishes, and raising up of all the baptized to use their given gifts and talents. I believe that in working together we can transform the world in which we live. If we want our parishes to grow and our diocese to grow then we must be the first to grow.

Through my experience as a teacher I grew the most because my students taught me so much (children, youth and adults). We grow as pupil and as teacher. Every member of this diocese has something they can teach. What are you willing to teach? It might be fly fishing, photography, creating a household budget, how to upload photos to Facebook, or a million other things. I would very much like to hear from you and what you would be willing to teach. If you would, email me at McCook@diomil.org and let me know. Our list will become a working collaboration for our diocese.

What's Happening Now?

Holly Stoner has a new curriculum out through the Living Compass curriculum from SAMARITAN WELLNESS. This curriculum is specifically for Emerging Adults (youth). The curriculum uses similar format to the Living Compass adult curriculum, looking at all the areas of our life and how our faith informs our way of living. It is a different approach, geared specifically for emerging adults as they begin to question many things in life that we adults have already (seemingly) set for ourselves. You can contact Holly Stoner or her husband, Scott Stoner at scott@samaritanfamilywellness.org for more information on either curriculum.

Rev. John Hickey is "sowing the Words of New Life," through the Seedlings Program. John has done several teachings in parishes around our diocese and he is available to schedule with you and your adult forum or for a seasonal program. Check out the SEEDLINGS article below in our Christian Formation eNews (CF eNews).

There will be a training day early in the New Year for those interested in becoming Trainers for Safe Guarding God's Children. We need more trainers to help lead and facilitate SGGC trainings in and around our diocese. If you have been through SGGC and are interested in being a trainer contact the Rev. Deacon Terry Garner at dcnterry@aol.com for more information. Dcn. Terry is also taking requests from parishes that need SGGC training within your local parish. The Church requires that all adult and youth staff, vestry members, Wardens, Sunday school teachers and youth leaders attend a SGGC training and renew every five(5) years to keep your training current.

The Life Long Christian Formation Commission will meet at St. John's Military Academy on November 17th to plan for 2012. We'll have an update from our first gathering in our next CF eNews.

The first meeting for the Institute for Christian Formation Continuing Studies will meet at St. Matthias, December 8.

What's Up Kate?

Kate
What a whirl wind of a month! After operating the hospitality room at Convention, I have jumped in quickly to planning Happening #89.

On November 5th, the Happening Team met at Trinity, Janesville to prepare and plan to put on an amazing Happening weekend. We have around 17 people on team and at least 13 candidates signed up to attend from all over the Diocese. This is a fantastic number and I could not be more excited for the weekend. It will be an amazing example of youth helping other youth learn and discover more about their spirituality. Please keep our youth in your prayers while they  live and grow as children of God.

Many other events are in the works for the upcoming year. Keep an eye out for a spring event that will be held in late February. In March we will be having a Happening Reunion to gather our Happening family and vision for the future. In the summer, of course, is Camp Webb. More information will be coming soon on these events.

If you have any questions or comments on youth events, please contact me at McKey@diomil.org

Blessings!

Happening is coming up this weekend. As part of the weekend, parishes and individuals are invited to write letters to the youth either on team or who are going through for the first time. These letters will be given to the youth as the weekend progresses and they serve as a reminder that there are people who support and love each and every youth at the weekend. If you feel called, please write youth youth or the weekend as a whole a letter to show you are thinking and praying for them or Happening.
