IRev. Carla McCook've been in the office for one week and already I've talked with some of you by phone and emails and I've met with others about Christian Formation in our diocese. I'd love the opportunity to talk and meet with more of you from our many parishes and ministries. Please feel free to contact me at my contact information below.

My hope and aim is to be a resource and support central for Christian Formation in our diocese. Already Kate McKey, Youth and Camp Coordinator, and REGS Scheeler, Bishop's Deacon for Christian Formation and I are planning for spring and summer of 2012. All of our contact information is below in this E-News.

One way we want to address questions, issues and needs is to meet with you face to face. Kate, REGS and I are all available to come for visits to your congregations. I will be on the pre-visits with Bishop Miller for this next year. I won't see every parish in those visits so I would like to meet with formation leaders, clergy and congregations to share resources and network our formation ministries. I am available for Sunday morning preaching, forums and celebration of Holy Eucharist. I am also available to lead a teaching series or forum during the days and most evenings or Saturdays.

What's Happening Now?

I've been in conversation with Rev. Martha Berger and we'll be having another clergy preview of the new adult curriculum series, Embracing Emergence Christianity: Phyllis Tickleon the Church's Next Rummage Sale, at St. Thomas of Canterbury, Greendale on Wednesday, November 16 (9:30-12:30). There are new study groups and curriculum coming from Living Compass. The Episcopal churches of Waukesha County have teamed up to do youth ministry together and that is going well.

These are just a few of the news and events happening around our diocese in Christian Formation. I hope you'll read through this E-News to see other events and send your Christian Formation news to us so we can post it along to others, share this Formation E-News link with others in your parish, and never hesitate to call the Office for Christian Formation with your questions, good news and requests.

What's Up Kate?
A lotKate has been up for Diocesan youth and camp activities recently. I have now been in the office for the past 3 months and I am excited to be getting to know our clergy, youth, and volunteers. Starting to work with Rev. Carla McCook and Deacon REGs has been a great treat and I am looking forward to more collaborations with them.
Right now we are in full planning mode for Happening #89 that is being held at Trinity, Janesville on November 18th-20th. I am excited to see this event start coming together and for the youth to join up for another great weekend. We had the staff selection meeting this last Saturday at St. Mary's, Dousman. We had youth, laity, and clergy at the meeting working together to make this Happening a great event. If you have an interest in being part of Happening or have youth that would like to take part, please fill out the registration form that is linked on the Happening article below.
If you have any questions for me or would like me to come out and visit your congregation, please email or call me anytime.
God Bless!

 Happening 88

Happening is a Christian experience presented by teenagers for teenagers with the help of clergy and lay

adult leadership. The purpose of the Happening - A Christian Experience program is to be one of the instruments within the Anglican Tradition to renew the Christian Church in the power of the Holy Spirit, in order that the Church may respond more readily to its call to spread the Kingdom of God throughout the world.  Happening - A Christian Experience seeks to achieve this purpose by bringing young persons and adults to a fuller personal knowledge of and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and to a deeper level of commitment and apostleship.  - from Standards and Guidelines for conducting the weekend

HAPPENING is a weekend retreat run by high school students within the Diocese of Milwaukee with adult support.   It is designed BY YOUTH, FOR YOUTH! It challenges youth to find their own spiritual realities based on the love of Jesus Christ.

HAPPENING's purpose is not only to have a fantastic weekend, but to build a foundation for a lifelong commitment to Christian living - a life based upon Christian values, beliefs and actions.

HAPPENING is a weekend full of fun and fellowship, but it is also a weekend full of learning, sharing, growing, loving and experiencing the gifts of God.

Who can attend HAPPENING?
HAPPENING is open to all high school youth who are in ninth through twelfth grades, and to the adults who work with them. You do not need to be an Episcopalian to attend HAPPENING.

More information will be posted here.
