Camp Webb 2011 A HUGE Success!

A Word from Hannah, one of our Senior High Campers:

"It's hard to remember a time when Camp Webb wasn't a part of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way.  It's a wonderful thing to spend such intimate time with people that share your faith. Hannah

d that, one of the best things is to make a complete fool of yourself and enjoy every second of it!  Admittedly, camp has its ups and downs (what doesn't?), but looking back, the only part that I dislike is leaving it.  It seems to get harder every year to say goodbye to such amazing people, both counselors and campers.  I can't wait to be a counselor myself, so that I can share in the campers' experience--while helping to create it."

Camp Webb is an outdoor ministry of the Episcopal CampDiocese of Milwaukee. Everyone who comes to Camp Webb is given the opportunity to learn more about themselves and others, to discover more about the Episcopal Church, to develop a greater spiritual awareness, and to encounter Christ through living and learning in God's creation. Campers will learn new skills, make new friends, create lasting memories and explore who they are and who God is in their lives.

Trinity Episcopal Church
409 E. Court St. Janesville, WI 53545

Happening is a Christian experience presented by teenagers for teenagers with the help of clergy and lay adult leadership. The purpose of the Happening - A Christian Experience program is to be one of the instruments within the Anglican Tradition to renew the Christian Church in the power of the Holy Spirit, in order that the Church may respond more readily to its call to spread the Kingdom of God throughout the world.  Happening - A Christian Experience seeks to achieve this purpose by bringing young persons and adults to a fuller personal knowledge of and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and to a deeper level of commitment and apostleship.  - from Standards and Guidelines for conducting the weekend

HAPPENING is a weekend retreat run by high school students within the Diocese of Milwaukee with adult support.   It is designed BY YOUTH, FOR YOUTH! It challenges youth to find their own spiritual realities based on the love of Jesus Christ.

HAPPENING's purpose is not only to have a fantastic weekend, but to build a foundation for a lifelong commitment to Christian living - a life based upon Christian values, beliefs and actions.

HAPPENING is a weekend full of fun and fellowship, but it is also a weekend full of learning, sharing, growing, loving and experiencing the gifts of God.

Who can attend HAPPENING?
HAPPENING is open to all high school youth who are in ninth through twelfth grades, and to the adults who work with them. You do not need to be an Episcopalian to attend HAPPENING.

More information will be posted here.

Christian Formation Staff

The office of Christian Formation has recently undergone several changes. With the Rev. Carla McCook, Kate McKey, and the Rev. REGS Scheeler taking over, it is an exciting time of transition. They look forward to this year with new ideas and lots of energy! They would be happy to help others in the Diocese in any way possible, and can be reached by their contact information listed below.

Rev. Carla McCook

Rev. Carla McCook is the Bishop's Assistant for Christian Formation.  She work in conjunction with parishes and convocations to create, sustain and promote education and formation and offer resources for all ages in Christian Formation. She is also available to lead a teaching series or preach on request.

She is looking forward to beginning this new ministry on October 18, 2011.

REGSThe Rev. REGS Scheeler has been a deacon of this diocese of many years, serving us in many different ways. Throughout his time, his passion and focus on formation and education for youth and their leaders has not changed. REGS is a non-stipendiary staff person who is available to help congregations move through transition, assist them in discernment or challenge them as they move forward. He can make visits on Sundays and some weekdays. If you think a visit from him would be of use to you, don't hesitate to call and discover the ways in which he might help your parish. He is also in charge of the New Beginnings weekend and is assisting with other formation events throughout the year. He has a gift and call for cooking ministry which we try to incorporate into all he does.
If you have formation news, events, or resources that you think would be of interest to the Diocese at large and that you would like to see in this electronic publication, please do not hesitate to email me at mckey@diomil.org.

If you want to be removed from this list, you may do so. If you have missed an issue or if you would like to look at old issues, links to the archives can be found on the Christian Formation Pages at http://www.diomil.org/christian-formation.

Thank you for your ministry, for your commitment to Christian Formation, and for sharing your gifts with the church.  Please let me know if there is anything that you would like to see in this eNews in the future and don't forget to pass this along!
