For the love of Haiti
Hartford Community Comes together . . .
St. Aidan's has concluded our Lenten Food Pack project and are delighted to report that we contributed 502 boxes (the equivalent of 108,432 meals!) to help mitigate hunger in Haiti. The packed meals will be distributed by Worldwide Hunger Relief.
Additionally, over $13,000.00 was raised to help pay for Food Pack supplies and shipping.
Over 600 people came through our church to either pack food or support the packers, including many church groups, service organizations, boy and girl scout troops, scholastic and athletic school teams, sewing-, cards-, and book- clubs, families, friends, and neighbors. This was an incredible experience and one we are looking forward to doing again next Lent.
If you are interested in knowing more about Food Packs, please contact Lori Masset at 414-588-3788.

Do you ever wonder . . .
How can my church grow? What are my personal strengths and how do I use them? What are different ways to survey the congregation? How do other parishes make this work? How do we make decisions that everyone can support? How do I develop new ministries? How do we build community within our parish and our civic neighbors?
If you are looking for a fresh perspective, peer learning and meaningful discussions about how to work in the parish you love, please join us in CDI (Church Development Institute). Participants attend 8 interactive sessions over the course of two years, beginning November 18-19, 2011. More information on the 2011-2012 CDI class is in our flyer . Contact Peggy Bean, Bishop's Deputy for Congregational Development, for more information or to register. (414) 272-3028/ext. 158 or bean@diomil.org

Julian Gathering May 11 - 7:15 PM
St. Dunstan's, Madison
Who is Julian of Norwich, and why are people gathering to learn about her?
Julian of Norwich was a 15th Century English mystic and anchoress. [What's an anchoress? In the Middle Ages, certain women and men chose to live a life intensely devoted to prayer permanently enclosed in a small room, called an anchorhold, attached to a parish church.] Little is known about Julian's life, but she wrote a book, as far as we know the first in English written by a woman, about a series of revelations which opened her to the depths of God's unconditional love for us in Jesus Christ. Nearly forgotten for 600 years, Julian's insights and gentle wisdom are becoming ever more widely known and appreciated. Thomas Merton called her "the greatest theologian for our time."
Julian prayed often in silence, and at a Julian Gathering we support each other in the practice of contemplative prayer and contemplative spirituality. These gatherings are initiated and supported by the Order of Julian of Norwich (www.orderofjulian.org). They are open to all who want to deepen their life of faith through the practice of contemplative prayer, for beginners as well as those already practicing. Each meeting includes time for contemplative prayer, fellowship, and reading/discussion of Julian's book. At the beginning of each meeting, brief instruction on the practice of contemplative prayer is offered. We meet the second Wednesday of each month from 7:15 to 9 PM at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 6205 University Ave., Madison, WI. Our next meeting is Wednesday, May 11. For additional information, contact Susan Fiore at (608) 845-2413 or slfiore@mac.com.
