 Safeguarding God's Children

Safeguarding God's Children is a national program put out by Church Pension Group that helps in the education and training for preventing and responding to child sexual abuse in everyday life and in ministry. It is geared to clergy, parents, youth workers, vestry members, congregation members who are responsible for protecting children, employees of churches and church organizations, and volunteers responsible for planning, implementing or supervising ministries, activities or programs for children and youth.

The training provides a basic understanding of the dynamics of child sexual abuse, how to recognize signs that a child may have been abused, and what to do if you have concerns about a person's behavior toward a child or youth, or if you suspect that a child or youth has been molested. For all adults concerned about children and youth.  It also guides you through steps you can take to prevent child sexual abuse in church and other organizational settings.

Please Remember in Prayer . . .

The Ven. Thomas F. Winslow, Chaplain to the Bishop, was released from UW Hospital-Madison today after several days of in-patient treatment as he continues to recover from  lung transplant surgery which took place this past winter.  Tom undergoes bronchospy every 3 months as part of his after-care and if any areas suggestive of early rejection are noted, he is hospitalized for several days so that he can be given intensive IV steroid/anti-rejection medications. Tom asks us to stress that this is nothing alarming -- he was told such episodes are not unusual following transplant surgery.  However, he would appreciate being remembered in your prayers and thanks the diocese for its continued support.
