ST. ANDREW'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
The First Fifty Years
On November 1st, All Saints Day, as the people of Saint Andrew's Madison gathered to celebrate the saints past, present, and future, they unveiled the latest book by Anne Beiser Allen. Anne has spent the last year reading the Vestry minutes going all the way back to the parish' founding in1914, researching the history of Madison and Saint Andrew's, interviewing former clergy, Senior Wardens, and parishioners past and present. She has found photographs in the files of the state historical society and of local newspapers. She has searched through boxes and boxes of photos at Saint Andrew's and has been given pictures that, until now, have only existed in the photo albums of families who are part of St Andrew's rich and wonderful history. Anne's newest book, "St. Andrew's Episcopal Church: The First 95 Years" will be available for purchase for $15 beginning on November 1st. $5 of the proceeds covers the cost of printing and $10 of each purchase going to support the operating budget of Saint Andrew's! This book will make a wonderful Christmas present! Buy a copy for yourself, for your children, for people in your life with whom you would like to share the story of God's people at 1833 Regent Street! Call or email the parish office at general@standrews-madison.org or (608) 233-3249 for ordering information or check out the link on our web page at www.standrews-madison.org !

ADVENT TREES AT ST. FRANCIS, MENOMONEE FALLS
St. Francis Church in Menomonee Falls joins many other parishes in creating Advent trees hung with tags for gifts for various charitable organizations. This year's focus at St. Francis is the Angel Closet, a project which provides clothing and small toys for children who are removed from their homes often with only the clothing they are wearing. This year another tree keeps it company. It's a Christmas Card Tree. Each family or individual is invited to hang ONE card for all parish members. Parishioners not only enjoy the beauty of the cards but also save time writing out multiple cards. What would ordinarily be spent for postage can be given to a worthy cause.

In appreciation . . . .
Dear People of the Diocese of Milwaukee,
I just wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming flow of cards, letters, emails, phone calls and prayers I received at the time of my mother's death. Her death came as quite a shock because she was healthy and of sound mind. The night she died, she had ordered out food but died before the food was delivered. My father died in 1984 and my mother's second husband died the end of February this year. I now feel more compassion for people who lose more than one close family member so close together and the emotions they are going through. Believe me, the prayers were felt, especially at the funeral. I could feel a very ,very, real presence of The Trinity. I feel extremely blessed to be part of such a caring community.
Most grateful for all of you, Deacon Karen Buker

I am writing to let you know about a beautiful, hidden gem in your own back yard. I am referring to the DeKoven Center, a retreat and conference center on Lake Michigan in Racine, Wisconsin. What was once the campus of Racine College (1852-1933) is now the Midwest's most enchanting retreat center. We have a variety of offerings for individuals and groups, including lodging & full meal service, in an historic and elegant setting. Once you've experienced the DeKoven Center's hospitality and charm, you'll not want to go anywhere else! In fact, 95% of our groups return year after year.
Please go to our website at www.dekovencenter.org and check out our brochure and rate sheet. Please keep this information for the next time you need a venue for a retreat, conference, family reunion or personal get-away. If you book in December, January, or February, you can take advantage of our winter rates and deduct 20%! I will be happy to schedule a personal tour of the DeKoven Center with you if you are interested. Our web site is also very helpful in giving you a visual representation of our Center. If you wish to contact me via email, my address is jpeyton@dekovencenter.org . Thank you for taking the time to look at these materials, and I hope to see you soon at the DeKoven Center!
