The Diocesan Deputation for General Convention will be leaving Sunday and Monday of next week for Anaheim.
Some of the issues on the table this year will be a Denominational Health Plan, a resolution to establish full communion with the Northern and Southern Provinces of the Moravian Church, including sharing in the historic episcopate and interchangeability of ministries, and restoring the Millennium Development Goals as a line item in the operating budget.

Additionally there are 2 sessions set aside for the House of Deputies for discussion of B033 (passed in 2006) and 2 sessions focusing on Mission Conversation through Public Narrative, (a process that can be used to articulate the call to action that is rooted in one's own journey and that of one's community).

Please check the diocesan website at www.diomil.org  for a daily update on the Convention.  A new posting will be made, with a different deputy making the posting each day.

We hope you will keep the General Convention in your prayers.  Dates of the Post - Convention Hearings in the Diocese are August 4 at 5:30 p.m., St. Luke's Madison and August 8 at 8:30 at Trinity, Wauwatosa.

Campus Ministry

Greetings from the UW-Whitewater Campus Ministry!  If you have young adults attending the UW-Whitewater this fall, please let me know.  Your personal contact may be the only way I hear about your student being on campus!  You can send the student info via e-mail to dhuxrev@sbcglobal.net  or call me at 262.749.1168.  Also, if you would like to do a pulpit exchange, I would be glad to come and speak about campus ministry.  In addition, I and members of our campus ministry board are available to come and speak to your assorted church orgainizations during the week.  Requests can be made via the e-mail and phone listed above.

Thank you!
The Rev. Dave Huxley
ASC sketchCathedral Book Sale July 30-August 4

(by Patricia Nakamura) Medieval alchemists struggled to turn lead into gold. The people of All Saints' Cathedral in Milwaukee have for more than 25 years practiced a more useful alchemy. They turn books into bread.

This year, the 28th annual Great Hunger Book Sale begins on July 30, with more than 40,000 used books filling the Guild Hall dining room, library, hallways, a Sunday school classroom, and several steps leading to second-floor offices. Sunday's coffee hour is relegated to the kitchen. If previous years' sales are any indication, about $25,000 will have been raised by the last day, August 4, for local, national, and international food pantries, meal programs, and disaster relief.

A request from St. Francis House (SFH) on the UW-Madison campus: If you know of anyone in your congregation who will be attending UW-Madison in the fall, please e-mail The Rev. Tom Ferguson, interim chaplain, at St. Francis House at chaplain@stfrancisuw.org .  SFH cannot always rely on getting information about religious affiliation from the University for incoming freshmen, so finding out from the parish is crucial.

Church Development Institute

Now is the time to sign up for Church Development Institute.  If you have questions about the program please contact Gary Manning or Peggy Worzalla.  If you would like to know how the program has begun to make a difference in the parish please see our CDI site and ask people who have attended.  Parishes who have graduates are St. Paul's, Watertown; St. Alban's, Sussex; St. Bart's, Pewaukee; St. John's, Elkhorn; St. Aidan's, Hartford; Trinity, Baraboo; Resurrection, Mukwonago; St. Matthew's, Kenosha; and St. Luke's, Madison . . to name a few.

Is your parish working on a Millenium Development Goal project?

The Commission on Global Reconciliation will be meeting July 25 to recommend to the diocese allocation of the 0.7% funds for projects that work toward meeting the Millenium Development Goals.  If your parish is engaged in such a project and would like to apply for diocesan funds, please send your request to:  Deacon Carol Smith, 4522 Aztec Trail, Fitchburg, WI 53711.

CWCamp Webb
a great formation experience

Sending your kids to Camp Webb is a great way for them to have a camping experience centered around God in God's creation.  Each day at camp will have a theme, worship, small groups, fun and games and I'm sure they will make great memories.

Please know that we are committed to getting every child to camp who wants to come, so please don't let money stand in the way!  Scholarships are available.  It promises to be a great summer and we hope your child can join us! For more information contact The Rev. Shannon Kelly at kelly@diomil.org  or go to www.campwebb.org .
One more time . . . THANK YOU for forwarding this newsletter to parishioners and others who may be  interested and for sending YOUR news/events to info@diomil.org .
