Former FASB Chairman Speaks at the Fair Value for Financial Reporting Conference

Robert Herz, former FASB Chairman, discussed the history of fair value in the US and abroad and talked about the future of fair value accounting in his remarks at the Fair Value for Financial Reporting Conference in Las Vegas this week.  In his view of the future of fair value, he stated that the US would most likely be in an "improve and adopt" mode for the near term.  Eventually he sees a move toward convergence and one of the most pressing issues is developing a mechanism to reconcile the differences between IFRS and GAAP. To stay up to date with the changing fair value environment, follow our FVS communications, including the FVS Consulting Digest, FVS News and the Forensic & Valuation Reporter.
