Bring the Sonics Back!!
It's been in the news that Arena Co. has located a place for an arena to host a Sonics team again. Seattle Adaptive Sports is supporting this with our Sonics wheelchair team. Having a NBA Sonics team in Seattle again is good for our communities. Come show your support at a couple upcoming events and wear a Sonics Jersey with us. Become a Facebook page.

Seattle Storm Game Night
Join us for a Seattle Storm game on Saturday, August 18th where our wheelchair basketball players will 'show off' their skills in a pre-game exhibtion. This game is a Lauren Jackson bobblehead night to welcome her back from the London Olympic. Tickets are limited, so get yours today - $20 (face value $34). Come by and check out this great group of athletes on Tuesday nights. This is a great place to meet others, get a little exercise and have fun! Some equipment available.
Other Upcoming Activities:
June 9, Seattle Adaptive Sports Experience with canoeing and kayaking at Cascade Canoe & Kayak Center in Renton. This NEW Paralympic sport will provide a hands-on experience for youth and adults.
June 9, Renton Community Center. Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) is hosting a Paralympic Sports Experience. There will be hands-on presentations in Judo, Goalball and Tandem Cycling.
June 30-July 1, Hoopfest in Spokane. The largest 3-on-3 basketball competition in the country.
June 14, Seattle Public Library-Downtown. Join members of the Paralympic and Deaf Olympic teams, blind cyclists, a blind skydiver and other superstar athletes as we celebrate competitors who honor "the possible" in their athletic endeavors. For all ages, 1:30 - 3pm.
July 21, Challenge Air 'Fly Day' is a free event offered to youth and their families interested in having a small airplane flight experience. Space is limited, Register TODAY!!
July 28-29, Showare 3-on-3 Shootout in Kent is a fun local tournament. Registration is open.
July 29, Sled Hockey clinic with USA Hockey at Castle Ice in Renton. Join this hands-on clinic and find out information about joining the team.
August 18, Seattle Storm game at KeyArena. Come watch our wheelchair basketball athletes hit the floor with their amazing skills, get your Lauren Jackson bobblehead souvenir, and buy your raffle ticket for a chance to win the '50/50 Pot' with Seattle Adaptive Sports.
August 18-19, Hoops on the River 3-on-3 competition is a fun weekend of basketball with our Oregon friends.

Other Programs:
Sled Hockey
It's coming!!! A USA Hockey clinic in Sled Hockey will kick off this new program for Seattle Adaptive Sports. On Sunday, July 29th at Castle Ice in Renton join us for a hands-on clinic, meet team coach Brian Campbell and US National team players. Seattle Adaptive Sports and USA Hockey will support this clinic to introduce the sport to those interested in joining a team. A BIG Welcome to Coach Brian Campbell and THANK YOU to Castle Ice in Renton for supporting this program. Teams will be formed with plans for competition with West Coast teams. Watch for an announcement for specific on this clinic. Please contact us at info@seattleadaptivesports.org if interested in attending a clinic and/or volunteering. Sled hockey is a physically disabled sports open to able-bodied individuals too.
Sitting Volleyball
A couple of sitting volleyball clinics took place ove r the past year and grew interest to start a team. Thank you to Shoreline CC volleyball coach, Mark West for offering to coach our team. This sport is open to physical disabled (popular amputee sport) and able-bodied individuals. Practice has started and competition planned. For more information, contact info@seattleadaptivesports.com
Power Soccer
Seattle Adaptive Sports is very interested in supportin g the powerchair users in the Seattle area and northend. We are looking for a coach and support staff to help support this sport. If you are interested in participating on a team or volunteering with coaching, please contact us at info@seattleadaptivesports.org

Seattle Adaptive Sports Experience
Our monthly sports clinics, held the second Saturday of each month, offer hands on and demonstrations in various adaptive sports offered in the Seattle area. Plan to stop in from 1-3pm, followed by The CREW youth social 3-5pm. Each month will feature a different sport that you can come check out.
THANK YOU TO THE CASCADE CANOE & KAYAK in Renton for providing this month's clinic in the new Paralympic sport of Paracanoeing and Kayaking. Come learn about recreational and competitive opportunities in this sport.
NOTE: Location for this clinic will be at the boathouse on the southend of Lake Washington 1060 N Riverside Dr, Renton, WA 98057 from 1-5pm with The CREW Youth Social joining us for the entire time. Visit the Cascade Canoe & Kayak Center website for best driving directions

The CREW Youth Social
The CREW Youth Socials are open to youth and young adults to come hang out in our mentoring program. Supervision is provided by Camp Casey counselors. Organizers: Brian and Cassie Hurley. Sponsored by Seattle Adaptive Sports, the Spina Bifida Association of Washington and the Kiwanis Camp Casey Foundation. The CREW Youth Social will take place the second Saturday of each month from 3-5pm, following the Seattle Adaptive Sports Experience clinics. What a great time to have your parents go off shopping or into Seattle for some fun, while you have some of your own with friends....games, food and laughter.

This amazing youth camp for physically disabled is coming soon on Whidbey Island at Fort Casey. There is still room for a few more Little Boys and Little Girls, ages 7-12. The Camp Casey annual picnic will be May 19th where new, returning and alumni campers/counselors come together to see old and new friends. Visit the camp website for more information. |

About Seattle Adaptive Sports
Seattle Adaptive Sports is a not-for-profit organization, tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. SAS promotes, encourages, and simulates the education, socialization, physical development, and normalization of persons with physical disabilities; and to promote public awareness and understanding of the need for recreational sports and amateur competitive athletic opportunities for physically challenged individuals. SAS offers competitive basketball, track/field, sitting volleyball and monthly sports clinics to physically challenged individuals in the Puget Sound region.
