Brooklyn Autism Center NewsletterMarch 2011
Greetings!

Once again, we have many exciting things going on at the BAC this month!

We are happy to introduce a new instructor, Matthew Willings, in the Little Kids Classroom. Matthew is replacing Jacqueline Pinczewski, who is embarking on a new career direction in marketing. Matthew previously worked in a residential program in Long Island where he served individuals with developmental disabilities. He also studied childhood education and theater arts. We welcome Matthew to the BAC!

Please read on for information about upcoming events and programs! We are especially excited about our Autism Awareness Art exhibition at Powerhouse Arena on April 12th! Please RSVP and invite your friends!

Please join us as we celebrate National Autism Awareness Month and the unique talents of children with autism! We are having a casual reception with drinks and light snacks that will highlight our student's artwork. We will also present an installation entitled "Dance With ME" created by video artist Filiz Zengin. This piece showcases children with Autism and invites us to interact with them.

At the BAC, we believe that educating the community about Autism, and providing solutions to support those affected will help to create the world of tomorrow; where people with ASD are accepted seamlessly into each community as contributing members of society. Details are as follows:

Date: April 12, 2011

Time: 5 to 7pm

Location: Powerhouse Books, 47 Main Street, DUMBO, Brooklyn

Hope to see you there!

Young Child Expo

The BAC will be exhibiting at the Young Child Expo on Thursday and Friday April 7th-8th at the Hotel Pennsylvania! This two day conference will provide parents and professionals with information about best practices, services and resources for children with special needs. We will have an information booth in order to spread the word about the BAC and provide information about our program and free resources. If any parents are interested in helping to staff the booth and speaking to guests from a parent's perspective, please let us know! we would love to have you! The expo runs from 7 am - 4 pm each day, but even a few hours would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading this newsletter! We are looking forward to another great school year. Please continue to help us thrive by spreading the word about the BAC to your friends, families, and people you meet in the autism community!

Sincerely,
